  5. Out early this morning, headed off at 6 am just as starting to get bright, its got to be the best part of the day.We had a few new earths to try on some new ground, the first 2 drew a blank but the third was definatly holding. It was on top of a bank covered with blackthorn bushes, all the tubes were running out into the field so we thought we would be able to dig in comfort, colared up smasher the old russell dog and ran him on,he hit game almost imediatly, not in the feild but under a B******D black thorn,so it was hood up head down and in you go,luckily it wasnt to deep only about 3 foot ,broke th

  8. A good day out,dug to the old smasher dog with two friends of this site,The soil wasnt to hard but was in an arkward spot,in a dip with banks all around it was hard to throw out the soil without some of it falling back in.The old russell held his game well, not giving it an inch. The final dept was 9 foot and took about 3 hours, would have had him out sooner but soil kept falling back into the hole, good exercise though.Game let run for another day
  9. My handiest was in an old stone wall, didnt even have to use a bar or spade, just had to take out one boulder and was right on top of the dog,to grips with his quarry, let him off for another day
  10. Ive seen good terriers in all the breeds but the ones ive been most impressed by is a good old fashioned jack rusell, not the type seen inthe show ring.Small, bow, legged, musular with a good head and a bigger heart like the old irish type.Hard to beat a good russellIMO
