  1. well done mate........you can clearly shoot well but why shoot head shots when theres no intention of eating it, it increases the chances of wounding and missing........engine room every time if i can see it headshots as last resort
  2. i'm going remi as you can upgrade bits so much easier with so much choice, its equal to the rest of the factory guns but with more scope for improvements...........the jewell triggers are simply gorgeous though.......so i'll be getting my self one
  3. the wam fox call is great so is the new black onesort of 2 strips of plastic but what i did was wound all my mates up by sitting down squeaking the whole time, watching tv etc practicing it on my hands and just pursing lips etc, then try it on town foxes then on the ones you need shooting don't call them in too close as you'll spook them and they'll be reluctant to come in again
  4. call the guy on the website, he's very helpful(its not me, lol) i'm sure he'll be able to tell you
  5. Thank you very much Hollywood...........but i'm confused Excluding the s+b pm11 can you name a couple of good s+b scopes that don't move aim point when varying and a doctor scope of the same quality please........then i shall test those out..............thank you
  6. the smallest mod bore i believe you can buy is .25 so a 25-06 and 22cf bullet will go down both. the best you can get for a 22cf is .25 so if you'd said a 308 and 22cf then yes 2 mods would be i deal I share a stealth between a 243 and a 222, i have 2 bushes and because(this is the important bit) the threadng is good and done by a good gunsmith i can change the mod as many times as i like without losing zero, not even a little bit. the main points on the threading is the same size thread on both rifles, both threads have to be undercut so it effectively starts to come off the thread befor
  7. Right, I have been saving up for a new rifle and its starting to come together, (please offer any opinions on what the things i'm thinking of) walking and driving for foxes!! .223 Semi custom rifle, is it worth it?? I don't like the majority of factory stocks, so when i buy myself a rifle i'll want it restocked with an after market stock, so rather than through bits away i figure pay more for the rifle i want from the start and not waste money over time......Is this good thinking?? I think i've started to go down the .223 remington 700 route with a 20" barrel on a, wild dog stoc
  8. I have a stealth, and its excellent absolutely great compared to the T8, i will never own a t8 again, stealths are quieter, they don't ring after, which mild steel does, being stainless its not gonna rust, you can replace individual parts, so cheaper to maintain, all these things are much like a predator but the real winner for the stealth over the predator is the predator threads to screw together are part of each section, an internal thread, this will get full of crap and probably seixe the stealth has 3 rods running through it with a nut on the end of each completely outside the mod(althoug
  9. 1. No 2.NO 3. not if its a good estate, and your good very slim chance of getting a job, you have to be 100% committed for years, doing everything you can for free, work all hours for nothing then if your lucky you'll get somewhere where you'll get pushed around doing loads of crap work until the new keeper knows you while getting paid next to nothing, but once you've proved yourself you reap the rewards, you are your own boss without the paperwork side of it, your doing what you love Not good money at all but you should be happy doing it You can only be sick or break something b
  10. that howa does look good value, as a kit, and the nikko scopes are very good really for the price! the thing is howa state a guarantee that they'll shoot 1 1/4" groups at 100yards, i don't consider that much of a group!!
  11. I put the boresnake through every 20 rounds as it does not affect zero on the gun, .222 and then every 50 or so i put forrest bore throughit and scrub it, but the boresnake every so often so i know the gun is bang on, only 1 pull though, one less thing to worry about when i pull the trigger
  12. corkonian did what i couldn't follow the link to stealth 10 mod,
  13. i'm loving my stealth at the moment, thewholeshootingmatch, i sound like a walking advert but there a new make and very good, i have no connection but am really impressed
  14. i really didn't like the 25-06 kick, we have that on the estate and it rarely comes out, i prfer the 6.5x55 kick to the 243, its kind of slower and more of a push than a kick, strange to explain, lovely to shoot though And if your looking at an atec mod then look at the stealth from www.thewholeshootingmatch.com, i took a gamble but absolutely love it, stripable non rust, parts replaceable and i've sot a fox 50 yards from a deer and the deer never even bothered carried on feeding, well chuffed with it
  15. 260 is meant to be nice as well slightly harder kick than a 243 but negligable..........meant to be good on accuracy the 6.5 55 is nice to shoot as well quite a slow kick
  16. had remi 597, now ruger 10/22........call south yorkshire shooting supplies or rimfiremagic.co.uk
  17. it could and probably is the screw cutting on the end of the barrel......if its not cut square it will make the bullet yaw or something like that or the bore has not been cut out probably
  18. headshots are very dodgy to take even with calibres up to 243(in lighter loads), from front on the nasal cavity can deflect a bullet past the brain not killing it quickly, from the side you can take the jaw off even with heavy loads, the slower the expanding the bullet the more likely to deflect as well, i personally do not take headshots as a rule as if you miss the brain(which is relatively small and quite well protected) there are no other major vessels to ensure a quick death, neck shots don't always kill quickly but do paralyse as a rule so at least they can be dispatched very soon after
  19. i've got a 6x44 tasco on the 222 and its alright but its scratched to buggery and wasn't great at the first place but its low to the barrel so makes the trajectory that little flatter but worth it......your buying really good optics with an s+b so it won't make that much difference at night and none in the day. i've shot to 259yards with the tasco and i feel its that holding me back now..... I bought a s+b 6x42 for my 243 deer rifle with 30mm tube, thats what i'd recommend it does let more light in and is stronger with no gain of height! That would be ample to 400+ yards other than that i
  20. the other way they restrict it is tie it to a piece of ground, i've an open ticket for 22, semi open for 222 as in i can use it on the estate my ticket is granted for but could not use it on other land i have permission for and 243 with a mentor on the estate, although i could use any of them anywhere with a mentor, they cocked up a bit but one law superceeds the other.......they may let you have 223 on the ground you apply for, but now you can shoot deer with a 223 then theres really not much difference between the 2 i'd stick to the 243 or both!
  21. Craps a little harsh.......i got a rizzini as someone offered me a next to new gun for £50.....i really like it, could do with fitting better but thats nothing to do with manufacturers, no guns fit me well off the shelf my rizzini has done 4 years of abusive use, didn't even have a cleaning set for 18months and the only thing is the chokes rusted but it was prob wet when i put it away.......from time to time the internals seem to get dirty which may make them feel rough but all in i like it and would have another at a snap
  22. would it be right to say that you won't get as many runs on larger stuff with a whippet in a night as you would with a bigger type dog, but more runs on rabbits as they seem to make short work of a rabbit as there more suited? The reason i ask is i could get 8 good runs out of my dog on roe/fox before he started blowing but only about 12-14 rabbit runs and they were always much shorter i put it down to the accelerating and cornering effort
  23. frustrating though isn't it!?!?!? yeah think i'll rabbit a couple of times then, try to relax, Fun that might be the key,,,,,cheers
  24. thats the thing cleaned and decopper rifle regularly..........can get 1" group on the range can shoot as many rabbits as i like but make it a fox and i go all shit!!!!!! ahhhhhhhh!!!!! my heart rate goes through the roof and i snatch the trigger..........i think it all started going wrong when my reloader cocked up the bullets and they were scattering confidence fell, to get it back up i need to pick up foxes but i can't as i keep missing, vicious(horrible) circle!!!
  25. to be honest i only really know about 22cf bullets and there effect, i did a defra conference and was told about the 270 rule, so was just passing that on, but being that defra have only really just admitted that there are boar in GB then could take a while to come in! Never shot more than roe and know from finding a wounded deer while out foxing that a 22cf is certainly capable of roe....the stalker who tells me stuff, which is often sh*te reckons 243 struggle with fallow but then so many shoot red etc with it i presume hes doing what he does best!!!! But it is all about that bullet p
