midnight replied to midnight's topic in Countryside Skills, Craft & DIY
bloody hell lots of hard work there !! iv just put a mirror finnish on the flats of the blade of mine and cut the buffalo horn scales . edge grinding tonight and glue up for the handle . got file work on mine nothing to hardcore .. -
iv done loades , leave it with valve oped for a week , snap the valve off after that and fill the tank with water , stand it next to a fire in the garden and let it get hot and steam . change the water for clean leave it a day or so , empty it then you can drill the remains of the valve out and weld a plug over it etc to make it look pretty wehn you do all the other work . be carfuil when you cut it and dopnt use a gas axe use an angle grinder , the liquid gas will have inpregnated the steel , hence all the above steps . good luck

glad they got there steve should keep you busy . 2 more finnished today . both damascus with burl wood . both burl woods are very hard to come by in knife handles. first one safety knife/ pauncher/utility knife has "explosion pattern" cutting edge and straight laminate spine. forged from w2 file steel and high carbon nickel steel , with burl/curly birch buffalo horn and brass hanldel . wet formed sheath belt loop style . this one could be a gift for your son daughter as its low risk of stab injury , although i sliced my thumb with it ha ha . £55 posted first class recorded -
