  1. Nice pics....like the one with the fox having a nosey.
  2. Plenty of rats there for a few hours out....shame about the weather!
  3. She looks a nice dog. Those pups look huge! What did you use over her?
  4. Cheers. Pritchy – We usually just move things around or dig following the dogs noses whenever we can, but this time we took a smoker. It was almost going dark by the time we went so we only went about 20ft into the farm yard! The smokers pipe ended up disconnecting so we dug to all of these rats apart from 1 that bolted and the farmer dove towards it…slipped and ended up laid on it…which slowed it down a bit for the dogs ! Brainy – That’s a decent amount of rats for the dog’s…good luck for the weekend. I’m hoping to get some spare time Sunday to have another go with
  5. Cheers for the comments. I enjoy it nearly as much as the dogs!
  6. Had an hour out ratting Sunday afternoon…wasn’t much daylight left by the time we got going but the dogs still enjoyed themselves. Heres a few photos…
  7. Another good write up...sounds like it was an interesting day out for both you and the dogs!
  8. She looks like a nice bitch 'Cleanspade'...how old is she?
  9. Cheers for the replies. I enjoy it...even the mrs enjoys it...but more importantly the dogs enjoy it.
  10. Recently acquired some permission on a Dairy Farm with a rat problem. After taking the dogs up for a couple of hours I’ve been back a few times with the air rifle and lamp…accounting for quite a few more!!! Heres a few photos from when we took the terriers up to do what they enjoy…
  11. "Why dont u be a proper countryman and stick together with all working terriers and their owners. If you were intelligent you would know that the enemy is out side this forum and not within." Wise words...I have thought the same for a while now. Wheteher it be ratting...rabbiting...or earthwork...should people not stick together and support one another!!! Either way...within this thread theres some decent posts and pics...nice to see some of the older pics aswell! Just my opinion!!!
  12. Thats a fair amount of rats...especially for the amount / lack of dogs!
  13. Looking forward to it - fingers crossed for some decent weather!
  14. Is there anyone who knows when the show is at Kelstedge, run by the DRWLC? Cheers.
  15. Dont know about the porn and a blow up ferret...but my hobs (also entire) loose weight and generally dont look their best at this time of year. With jills on their minds and them moulting their coats - give them a couple of months and he / they will be back to his usual self.
  16. As some have already stated...straw is fine. I use wood shavings (not saw dust!) in both the run and bed compartment with straw added to the bed compartment...more straw during the winter and just a little through the summer. If you have any other animals that you can use straw for and if you have somewhere to store it then its a lot cheaper to buy a bale of straw!
  17. Great photos 'Toka!'. Havent attended any shows yet this year but we are glad we went. A good show with dogs of all shapes and sizes, enjoyed seeing all the dogs and taking part. Thanks to the guys who took the time out and sorted the show out. Anyone else got any photos (be nice to see the collie cross class!) Cheers.
  18. Some good photos, looks like there was a decent turn out. Did anyone manage to get photos of the terrier classes?
  19. As 'Alimac' said, you can buy a tick remover from the vets. All you do is slide the forks around the tick and gently twist, has worked everytime for me.
  20. My air rifle hasnt been tampered with and is like new. I brought this topic up as a friend of mine was concerned that his air rifle (spring) could be just over the limit. I have read into the law etc however what I read just stated 12ft-lb, which is why I asked on here wether this was inclusive of 12.somthing or upto 12 full stop. Which thanks to helpfull replies I now know. Thanks again for the productive replies, Danny.
  21. Thanks for the replies. I am restricted to where I can put the trap as theres been alot of people going round freeing birds and the local farmer has had traps damaged, so fingers crossed it works where it is.
  22. Many thanks for all the replies and advice.
  23. What are the best tings to feed to magpies? I have been told different things by different people from dog food rabbit offal? Also does anyone have any tips to keep magpies and to help increase my chances of gaining the attention of other magpies? Thanks, Danny.
  24. Hi all, Knowing that the legal limit for an air rifle is 12ft-lb, where would you stand in the eyes of the law if an air rifle was 12 point somthing such as say 12.1 - 12.7? What kind of things could be done to slightly reduce the power, such as pellet weights etc? Thanks, Danny.
  25. I have recently been doing lamb curries in the slow cooker, but started getting a steady supply of rabbits in due to some new permission so have been thinking of trying rabbit curry myself. I was just going to add the paste etc as I have been doing but I think I'll be trying to make it from scratch after seeing the recipes posted. Have people tried squirrel curry??? Cheers, Danny
