  1. I don't do a great deal of bushing but the dogs enjoy going into the cover when needed. Dog followed bunny onto this heavily covered banking... ...And came out with this: Retrieving a shot pigeon from some thick cover:
  2. A fine way to spend a birthday...a good result aswell.
  3. Thats quite a few rats! Bet you and the dogs were busy. What kind of farm is it (as in pig etc...)?
  4. Cheers for comments. Dillan: The plug is/was brand new...I bought the plug the day before. But that week a friend of mine welded a metal pipe on the strimmer for me...and in his wisdom added extra oil (on top of the mixture I had in!) as he though it could do with smoking more (he's never been ratting!!!). I much prefer to just use the spade and follow the dogs noses...but its a case of when needs must! I'll empty the oily mixture out and replace it with a weaker mixture and keep my fingers crossed. Any other ideas/thoughts about strimmer only running for a few seconds are welcome!!
  5. We decided to have a walk round the farm with the dogs Sunday afternoon. It was just us two with our dogs...with the spade and a smoker that doesnt like to work! The dogs started to mark so I got the smoker going and set to work on the first holes. Two rats quickly bolted only to drop into a hole (under rubble) a few feet away. Then the smoker decided it only liked to smoke for a few seconds then cut out (guessing its due to my friend adding more oil!!!) So the smoker was left alone and we pushed on following the dogs noses and helping them move the rubble, wood and plastic to try and
  6. Cheers...we are more than happy with him...to me thats all that matters.
  7. Ive never really been able to fault his working ability...just his lack of socialising let him down when he was younger so he would hold back when in a pack. Since weve had him he has grown in confidence whilst working with other dogs and is probably the main catch dog when were out. I've put a few threads on with my dogs ratting and will get you some pics up (when my computer lets me!!!). I've pm'd you aswell...as theres plenty of dogs to choose from!
  8. A constructive post BBB!!! It’s a lot easier to ‘shoot’ a dog / give up on a dog…or does it make you a bigger and better person! We liked the look of him and saw potential. Socialised him with other dogs etc…and gave him some basic training. He now works most weeks with anything up to 8 other dogs (bitches at that usually!)…and has never let us down whilst out ratting!!! We are more than happy with him and he has done all we have asked of him…and help gain us plenty of permission.
  9. BBB...Yes. Oz is 'the thing' DA owned for a few months...and we have had him for almost 3 years now.
  10. Fireman...I'm not sure. If theres a dog someone sees that they think could be a potential stud then they could speak to the owner and the EPTR registrar and find out anything they need to know. Including blood lines (for faults etc!) and the working side of things within each dogs line (if they wanted to!) Or they could speak to a registrar first with their requirements and take it from there! Just thought I would point a few more dogs out for 'Luke D'.
