  1. I use Dr Johns. I get it from my local farm shop. Its a complete food, there is three ranges, silver, gold and platinum. Varying amounts of protien levels depending on whether silver, gold or platinum. Full of essential oils, vitamins etc. Prices go from £8.95 to £10.49 respectively for a 20 kilo sack which lasts my two a month roughly. I can honestly say its brilliant, plenty of energy on it, their coats are always glisening which is a good sign there getting good nutrients. And to feed two dogs for a £10 a month its not bad.
  2. hi guys thanks casso, il give it ago and let you know how it goes. I hate having to ask a questions about training, i thought i was quiet a good dog trainer as all my other dogs have been well trained by me. its just this one bloody dog has been doing my bloody head in. cheers to everyone else as well treefella
  3. alright everybody i need some serious help, now iv worked and trained my dogs and others for along time now, everything from lurchers and terriers to even my mates spoodle (not for work, just basics). About 4 months ago my terrier was put to sleep at the ripe old age of 14 and was still bushing and catching rabits until 6 months before he got ill, and one thing iv always thought was incredibly important was recall! All my dogs have been spot on with it by 12 months and each dog has been different when training them to return to me on demand. I aquired a new terrier about 2 months a
  4. hello all. I kmow iv asked before and said im getting another dog but my work circumstances have been constantly changing and i was being sensible and waiting for a good time to get a new lurcher as the last thing i want is to rush in and buy a pup just to find that i have to sell it down the line. Anyway circumstances over, ill be in the perfect place to get a new pup in april/may and was wondering what you lot thought on the type of dog i want, need. this is what i want to use it for day time mooching (mainly rabbits and birds, but would be good to know she could tackle the o
  5. Iv got one, do a search using my name, picture of mine should come up. This is my experience of her. Gorgeous looking dog. Brilliant temperment but a real one man dog, very jelous of my girlfriend, tries to get inbetween us and push her away from me, and sulks if I come home and she can smell my girlfriend on me. Right temprement over working ability Good on rabbits, been close to hares but the two she coursed the hares had a 200 yard head start. Had a couple of roe with her. She chases foxes but will never commit enough (i only chase edible anyway) c**t to train but once she was sh
  6. hi there anyone no of any good stretches of the dordogne that are free to fish or quiet cheap all the best treefella
  7. hello all i no there is blokes on hear that hunt with lurchers or staghounds in america but im moving to canada in a year and was wondering if you can hunt with dogs there. if there is anyone in canada i would love to have a chat. im going to a place called chilliwack as a timber faller hopefully ( fed up with this country and what mr blair has done to it). So i was basically hoping to find info on what type game i can hunt and if lurcher type dogs are easily obtainable over there. i am going out on my own and will be looking to get a dog sharpish just as a bit of companionship if anyt
  8. i dont no how many miles i walk mine, but they get atleast 1 hour aday usualy 1 and a half to two hours. obviously there are certain occasions when they might get less than an hour. on these occasions i take my lurcher out on my bike and do maybe 5 miles at a fast trot to slow canter pace. my terriers abit old for running by a bike hes 11 now so out on walks he decides his own pace. hes just as active when out in the field but takes abit longer to recover. and will sleep for the rest of the day. my 3 year old lurcher is a different matter. i dont no how this compares to other people
  9. hello just saw an advert in cmw and was very interested in what was advertised as picard/beardie/lurchers anyone with any experiance with them, the advert made him look like a bit of a puppy breeder your thoughts and opinions would be good what where they like pre-ban ect all the best treefella
  10. i agree with whipptet 99, dont get me wrong if my dog was seriously injured in a accident in the middle of no where and i had a gun, i would hate it but id do it. however and this is a very big however, if a dog has properly grafted for you and been your companion for 14 years being shot in the head is not the way to go. there is no dignity in that. pay more and have the vet come round your house and have a small injection with all the family around. if your clever you would insure your dog/s when there one years old so its cheap (it costs me £6 per month) so for the vet to come round m
  11. iv got one at the moment shes good on bunnies hardly any hares around me however afew times my terrier has flushed afew and she put up a good fight against them, baring in mind by the time she saw them they were well over 150 yards away. she jibbed on fox, but im not that interested, i may seem to some on here as not a real working dog man but im an out and out daytime pot filler. not interested that much in lamping. nothing better than seeing a lurcher hunting properly in the day how dogs are supposed to. im going to piss off many people but id rather see a dog run two or three f
  12. iv ask it before and got mixed answers a guy i no said if i got nato 5.56 rounds they would fire through a .223 is the nato higher velocity and will it blow my gun up. cheers treefella
  13. i dont no what your going on about mate, are you saying im in the wrong for posting that?
  14. im sorry bt all you so called working dog mn should be ashamed of yourselfs, there is only one real reason why a dog shows aggression towards a human. that is because it believes it is higher up in the pack than you. if its scared and thinks it is below out it cowers. so im afraid that you working dog men who have had to put your dogs down for aggresion is all your own faults for not being a dominent and controlling handler. doesnt make a blind bit of difference if it is a fox and deer slaying scard up 30 inch bull cross or chihouha if it thinks its above you in the pecking order it will
  15. for sale is m air arms s200, in very good condition hasnt been used that much maybe one tin of pellets through it. im selling due to lack of use for it im asking £200 for it this includes - gun scope mounts, scope not included fleece lined carry case Secondly BSA supersport break barrel this was given to me by an old guy when i moved into my current house. it was still in the box, apparently he had bought it to shoot the mag pies in his garden but couldnt hit a barn door with it, i have shot with it and it shoots well. i
  16. hi there, in the process of buying a brno .22 rimmy from a mate of mine, unfortunatly he has lost the bolt. i was wondering, roughly how much would it cost for a new or second hand one?
  17. hi there looking for a chipper to tow behind my truck, doesnt matter how ropey it is, can do alot of work on it myself. idealy chip upto 6 inches cheers treefella
  18. new you'd end up with a bull cross eventualy, how does your head keeper boss feel about that, suppose its a substitute for your small stature lol
  19. i have been shooting for 7 years, got my DSC level 1. sorry mate but i thought it would be reasonably sensible idea. snipers manage to stalk with a heavier rifle, they can shoot out to 800 yds accurately sounds a good comprimise to me. Im just geting into target shooting but shooting game for along long time. i cant see why it was such a rediculous question, surely a sniper rifle is the perfect compromise. also weight isnt an issue. not being cocky but im a treesurgeon who specialises in large trees so im used to support myself and heavy chainsaws weighing 7 or 8 times in odd positions.
  20. yeah thats what i mean mate, deer at normal ranges and target past that, just wondered if you can get ex military sniper rifles or servilian equivilants
  21. iv just got my fac in .22 .223 and .308. now i was just wondering as a rifle for .308 what would be the best for doing deer and long distance target i no your never going to get the best of both worlds but i was thinking surely a servilian version of a sniper rifle could offer both in one rifle i.e accurate to 800yds but good enough to be managelbe and not to heavy to stalk deer with. yours views and opinions would be greatly appreciated
  22. it may be a silly question but is a .308 the same as 7.62 nato. i got told it was and wasnt sure, i never realy thought about it, he also said 5.56 nato was the same as a 223. if this is true can you buy cheap army surplus rounds to use down range, sorry if im being thick treefella
  23. took my terrier and lurcher out today for a mooch, got a couple of rabbits and my lurcher coursed a hare but once again it was about 200 yrds off and she isnt the quickest dog so she lost it. this got me thinking, i no saluki hybrids are supposed to be the best for competition coursing but has anyone ever owned or see run a proper lurcher not a longdog(sight hound x sighthound) e.g traditional collie or terrier based lurcher, be entered into a hare coursing cup like the forley cup and do well. just interested to find out. i mean in my opinion a proper working collie has loads of stamina. the
  24. does anyone no if the waterloo cup is still running, obviously it wont be in england. just a thought, maybe it has moved to ireland. probably a stupid question
  25. it doesnt matter if its a 'hard dog' or not. this is nature and nothing else, if your the dominent one it will obey. thus every person in your family should be above it so it will obey everyone. this is why i do not agree with keeping a dog in kennels. at the end of the day it is a living animal not a tool. if you want it to behave like a f'"king tool buy a bloody rifle. you will probably be better at training somthing like that from the sounds of it.
