Hi guys, did a search on here and online but couldn't find any info. I'm thinking of getting a 7.62x51 and would want to use it on deer and target. So my question is can you get 7.62 hunting rounds suitable for deer? If not I won't bother but my mate is selling a very nice target rifle that could be used for stalking as well. So if hunting rounds are easily available I will get it. Any leads for this would be good, Cheers

What was he doing with the cubs then? And why was he putting dead ones in the bin? There is footage of him carrying cubs into the kennels and dead one out. I don't know why anyone would defend them, just because they are a hunt kennels doesn't mean they are good people
-
Iv seen the footage, what are you on about. There is no way that was propaganda, the guy was seen carrying a cub into kennels. Even if it died of shock when it saw the hounds its still an disgusting thing to do to an animal!

Anyone see the news yesterday at the hunt kennel? Disgraceful behaviour, gives everyone a bad name. Honestly couldn't think of many things more cruel

Colliexsaluki Cross Whippet Pups East Yorks
treefella replied to vfr400boy's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
Hi mate, can you email me a photo of the parents? I used to have a straight colliexsaluki bitch. She was a lovely dog, sadly died. Would be good to see a photo of another as they are rather rare -
Hey guys and girls Anyone know where there is any goose or duck land to go shooting over? Treefella

Only going from experiance, but my colliexwhippet grey was in season and my terrier was only interested in a sniffing way, no mounting. Pretty disgusting as a few times I had to wipe blood of his noes.

Hi guys, right, its maybe a odd question to some, who would probably say stuff along the lines of 'why', not enough running dog blah blah blah. but i dont care, i had a collie x saluki before, loved her to bits, worked here hard and wept like a new born when she died of bone cancer. anyway, im with out dog at the moment and just wondered. 1) is there anyone out there working this particular cross succesfully and 2) is there any one breeding such a cross with good results, i know there are other breeders, hancock etc doing collie based lurchers, just wondered if there where any collie

so we are all in acceptance that man can be the cruelist animal in the world right? makes you think doesnt it! some of us hate vermin ie foxes etc because they kill our chickens ets. what type of animal can do this to another animal? oh yeah man. iv killed and eaten alot of animals from rabbits to deer but jesus this brought tears to my eyes. If you dont find this heart breaking and happy at the end you shouldnt look after animals, working or not. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Xg2G_oINqc dont care if you all think im a big girls blouse, im off lamping now!

True though, some times there's no other word. I still hunt like our grandfathers did, 1 lurcher, 1 terrier and my wits. No lamps and 4x4s. And on my way home il pick some herbs and mushrooms out of hedgerows. Not stop at a texaco garage for a can of red bull, a ginsters pasty and a mars bar. Maybe I'm just old fashioned though -

Your a moron as well then. If you think having a laugh is slamming an animal into the ground half arsed by the tail to dispatch it. That is no way to treat any animal. Granted there dogs are good but how they act is not on.. What so ever -
Just watched a '2003, pre-ban clip of lam ping foxes by the wrecking crew' I was quiet frankly disgusted to see some bloke from there 'crew' pick a fox up by it's tail and slam it into the ground to dispatch it, then when this didn't work he threw it back to the dog. Now Iv hunted, killed and disatched everything from mice to deer, but I wouldn't even think of treating an animal like that. It gives honourable pot filling lurcher men like myself a bad name and tarnishes us with the same red neck, ' trying to improve the size of there dicks by killing as many predators as possible' America

Ok cheers mate, any idea on costs roughly?

Can no one give me a serious answer or tell me im asking a stupid question
-
Ha ha, no seriously if there is it would be great. It may be a stupid question, but I know there's sort of a morning after pill so thought there might be a pill for this. Reason I ask is I run my own treesurgery business and my lurcher comes with me to work in the truck and me and the guy who works for me would be a bit miffed if she bled all over our seats. If there isn't il have her spayed as im not ready and neither is she to have pups for a few more years
-
Hello all, just a quicky. Iv got a collie, whippet, greyhound. Obviously dogs can't take the pill, im not stupid. But is there a injection or something I can get to stop my bitch coming into season. I don't want to have her spayed but not ready to have pups till she truly proves herself in a few seasons. Also she cones to work with me so can't really have her bleeding everywhere. So if there isn't anything then il have to have get spayed but would rather not.

Will do guys, he has a couple of dodgy toes that curl off to one side because of an accident. But I've seen him tear round a park and turn on a 6 pence with no problems, and to be honest I saw a good lamping bitch once with her two middle toes missing once. Anyway he should at least make a half decent rabbit dog, nice long back which I like over long legs and short back. Il keep everyone posted

Hi guys, Picking up a collie/whippet/greyhound in a week, he's 1 year old, done nothing, iv rescued him. Before anyone jumps down my throat, the way I see it its the same gamble (work wise) as if I bought a pup. Anyway he's leveled out at 24incbes, handsome little chap, do people have this cross? How well they got on with them as a pot filler? What have they taken fur and feather with these crosses, pre ban and post ban. IV had collie crosses in the past but never with whippet in the mix. So basically would like to hear peoples advice, and experiences with this cross. Peace out

Pm'd you mate, let me know what you think, if situation is right il have her. -
Skycat I get where your coming from, to be honest I'm in and out of the truck all day so can just sit in the cab, can't have a cage in the back. I think my wood chipper would seriously terrify it :-) And I'm not nocking deerhounds at all, iv always fancied a collie/deer/grey but I just want to keep the size down, keep the intelligence and have a bit of brawn to hit cover and run hard. The most important factor though, even though it will work and quiet a lot, it will be a companion. Don't get me wrong I love nothing more than a hard day out hunting, but on the other hand I like a lurcher
-
Cheers for the replys guys. I did think about lurcher x lurcher but I am a bit worried I could end up with something where the owner says there's a tad of deerhound in it and the pup ends up levelling out at 29inches. Iv seen it happen. I know it sound silly but I really want to be sure of the size (well as best I can, cut out as many variables. I am well aware it's a gamble with genetics) I don't want anything under 22 or over 25. It's going to sit in my transit during the day and I employ someone so it has to be smaller. I thought about going to Hancock (I know i know) but I know if I go for

Hi guys, Right this is the situation. I'm moving out soon, I have two dogs one a saluki collie lurcher, one a terrier cross. The terrier isnt mine, more a family dog. The lurcher is mine. The problem is I work all day, can't take the the terrier and my lurcher and the terrier are like a little pack now and hate being apart. My lurcher is coming on for 9 and is bait set in her ways and doesn't really like change. Iv thought long nd hard about it, and if I was being selfish I would take her ( where I'm moving to I can't take both, that's out of the question) so I have decided to grit my tee
