if you put some vinegar on ur fingers or where ever he or she is nipping , once the ferret tastes the vinegar it should put them off nipping again there is several things you can try on your hands , vinegar is probably the easiest method but some pet stores have bitter apple spray that you can apply to your hands and feet etc . hope this helps
yeh im gettin a 5 ft by 5ft shed made for my ferrets, its definately the best way to do it then you can get whatever you want, ive jsut got the shed with stable door idea then inside there is a pipe going to my 6ft by 4ft run , theres a couple of ramps goin to be in place up to the sleeping area which will be about 2-3 ft off of the ground
up here in shetland there were surely a lot of ferrets let loose not sure if this is true but it was years ago but if thats the case there really isnt any true polecats up here ,
well how big is your polecat to be honest i aint seen much diffrence in the wild one compared to a feral ferret obviously apart from the colour as nearly all of them are the poley colour , but as for size i aint seen nothin hobs are normally alot bigger than jills but that is obvious , i was led to beleive that you can only see much of a diffrence if you see there skeleton, the base of the skull is diffrent and they have more crowded teeth , if any one agrees or disagrees id like to hear what you all think
nah mate i dont kill them just many other people do , if i did catch one i would just keep it , my ferret i have now is a wild one or what i think mite be wild or its a escapee from somewhere
cheers willrenny i might try look that up on youtube , but ive heard those mink are viscous buggers but as you say it would be intresting to see the diffrent working abilties
a license they wouldnt need to come up here then people just do away with them beaucse they become a pest to farmers killing there stock of chickens etc so they end up trapping them then drowning them , dont worry stubby i aint crossing anything im too afraid of what the offspring might be like probably viscious b*****ds haha
sorry guys lol nah i was just curious, i saw this link of ferrets crossed with mink that was reason for my curiouity , they reffered to them as khonoriks , here is the link http://www.ferret.ru/page-40.html
anyone know of what mustelid hybrids can be bred for example feral ferrets and wild polecats, but is there anything else you can hybridize with your ferret i have heard of mink be bred with ferrets but not sure if this is true
hi everyone im quite interested in live trapping , but i have never had overly much luck just curious what do you guys use as bait when trapping most mustelids? such as Polecats, Mink and Stoats . I would like a step by step plan of where to set traps, what to bait them with, what to disgusie them with, and when is the best time to go after each species ??? any help would be much appreciated
yes i agree kay , thats what i am doing with my court , ive got a a concrete floor with 6 inch blocks then a pupose built shed on top of the blocks then its a piece of cake to clean out just take the hose over the floor , looks like a great project though keep up the good work
liam
hey everyone just curious here, but i was wondering how much time does everyone here spend with there ferret per day, other than days out hunting with them ?
hey everyone pay no attention to my last post as i buggered it up , but this time it should work so here goes
just thought i would post the idea of my new bedding setup i was planning on makeing , please leave yout comments on what you think !!
The vertical red lines on the main part are the divisions for the individual nests , each nest has its own ramp for access , and they have a lift of cover over each nest for easy cleaning
Please, No criticism on my drawing skills
