  2. its still feral though its been brought up around humans its whole life , i dont have a clue about where my ferret came from that why i work with him alot , ive never tried him rabitting as hes that shy i reckon he would just stay down there
  3. just hes an entire hob , so hes got a good smell with him, but as i caught him out wild , i have to work with him alot in the house as the its not a big hutch i have , but when the court is built il be able to be out there with them instead
  4. i asked the question about greyhound ferrets not long ago , magwitch posted a pic of his one. hope you dont mind magwitch that ive posted your picture
  5. well i just washed him but ill put a picture up when i think hes dirty again
  6. i did have him at the vet not long ago and he treated him for that, but ill try that spray and see how it goes, i dont try to wash him too much maybe every 3 weeks but since ive seen him so messy i just try to clean him up abit , but ill give the spray ago cheers mate
  7. my one seems to manage ok with salmon but the bones are bigger i guess
  8. i have 1 ferret at the moment , i like to keep him reasonably clean but maybe 3 days after hes been cleaned he seems to be dirty again like his coat seems to be very dark quite dirty round his neck for example, i was led to beleive that ferrets where quite clean animals apart from there smell. i try my best to clean any excrement out of the hutch daily and the hutch is fully cleaned every week , im switching over to using a ferret court as im gettin more ferret do you think with abit more room he will be a cleaner animal
  9. some people prefer albinos as workers as you can seem them better in the grass , but as far as ferrets go there all them same
  10. hi paddy , just been on ebay theres atleast 10 mk1 finders with collars theres a link to the ad on ebay http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll...e=ferret+finder
  11. hey robbie you could try adtrader.com too where i got mine from not 100% sure if they pass over into ireland advertisments or if its just britain but you might aswell look
  12. Gannet,Ostrich, Kangaroo, Starling, Whale,Pig Sheep and Cow heads, Dolphin but we will keep that quiet all manner of fish internals cod heart mmmmm!!! sheep shit pipe had a tendancy to eat bees, worms, centipedes and anything found in the garden etc probably alot of other stuff really cant remember though
  13. great lookin court mate the ferrets seem to be enjoyin them selves , hoping to get mine built soon just putting down a concrete floor first , nice bag o wabbits there too
  14. i thinksexual maturity in females is reached the spring following there birth , or about 9-12 months this could vary though depending on light levels as ferrets come into season when the days get longer they have a special name for it but i cant remember , but you will know shes ready when her rear swells up
  15. if you think your jill has come into season , just breed her with a v.hob ,stubby has added a post of people with v.hobs you may find someone in your area , or if your desperate to breed them for kits then , as fireman says get another hob to breed them with
  16. it isnt advised to breed ferrets that are related , but the all the stories of deformed kits isnt always true but it CAN happen but you might be lucky but i wouldnt advise breeding related ferrets , and i beleive most other people will agree in not breeding your ferrets
  17. yeh im pretty sure mines 25 inches and the vet weighed it in at 2.2kgs which is abit overweight or so he said
  18. well said pittindall you got the right idea !!
  19. sorry mate but its all part of the process , unless anyone else has any better ideas but this is only one i heard of , you can either continue to be bitten or be bitten a couple of times more until she realises shes hates the taste if she bites . or if the ferret bites just put her back in her hutch etc she will soon learn shes done wrong and will give up biting , but it takes time that method , so i would just try the vinegar make your hand into a fist if shes goin to bite that way she wont get her teeth on to anything apart from your knuckles
  20. no not really im gettin 2 jills to work instead , yeh hes pretty big stuggles to get down a hole haha
  21. he must have a bit of growing left in him 16 inches isnt that big for a fully grown male as mine is over 2 ft long
  22. 16 inches nose to tail , is that a male or a female , beaucse my male albino is 25 inches long
  23. i have heard that bigger ferrets are bad for cornering rabbits so they wont bolt, but if you use smaller jill then the rabbits attempt to run out past them , im pretty new to ferreting though , but eveyone has there own opinion , if you ask around you will see a wide variety of answers
  24. yeh i know what you mean my ones isnt a small guy either. well its good to know its worked for
