  1. Is this a wind up? surely no body would actually write that unless it were tongue in cheak!! Surely no one on earth is that much of a bellend!
  2. 6 from me, total 461
  3. owning a crossbow isn't illegal in the UK... its hunting with one thats illegal over here
  4. was just wondering if any body had been granted on small but suitable land to get an idea if it would be worth sending off I got a .22 Rf granted on the only bit of permissions that I put forward, which was a 6 acre field (didn't want the police to go round and hassle numerous land owners I have permission with) the field has an adjoining road running along one side. they came and visited it and were happy. good luck
  5. IF your wanting a smallish run/big hutch thats fairly easy to make. we used make them out of old doors, would pick up 4 internal doors from the skip, Prefably all the same colour so that it looks ok. One for the bottom of court one for back cut one in half (to make the sides) then used to get a piece of 2X3 bit of wood for across the top front, And then fasten your mesh onto the front. With the final door would use the hinges from it to fasten them onto the back of the hutch. and then put roofing felt on top We did this a few times and although they will rot eventually. We found yo
  6. Got a handful of rabbits with this the other day . I threw the livers but kept the carcasses. They will remain for a couple of weeks in the freezer but then will go to the ferrets

  8. Visit My Website wow there great i will take 250 tins of you please not I am fairly sure this is a con And even if it isn't you would end up paying a couple of quid (Postage and Packaging) for a sample of 50 ish pellets when you get get 500 decent ones for around £7-8, and not run this risk of being robbed. atb
  9. just keep an eye mate, if it gets too bad split them, its not unusual to have to split them this time of year. atb
  10. good news, about time they got priorities a bit more on track. Have just noticed this within the article mind "In future, forces should rely on anti-hunt activists to produce information," Which sounds to me like the police are inviting antis to gather evidence / disrupt hunts themselves which hopefully will not mean that there will be even more lentil eating terrorists carrying camcorders or other gyrocopter flying idiots littering the countryside atb
  11. yeah am sure thats the one. one shot one fill! Am assuming that the original post is a typo or something!
  12. A shot to the chest area of a rabbit will drop a rabbit as quick as a head shot, and in most cases stands less chance of bouncing off thick bone, which can and does happen from time to time with headshots. I will take your word on that one. I didn't spend long hunting rabbits with an air rifle, my rimfire followed PDQ. Back then, everyone I spoke to said to me to keep it to head shots. I did, and it did work fine. Logun - If you take a rabbit and a fox, a fox is about 10 times the weight of a rabbit (roughly!), and a 22LR has (roughly!) 10x the power at the muzzle. The ranges are the s

  14. I thought that was more to do with the shot gun .. My appoligies if im wrong fella. what you are both describing is essentially the same thing continuing to aim at the target post shot, only difference in the two explanations is the type of gun one aiming shotgun the other a rifle atb They're both describing the same thing - regardless of rifle or shotgun - except breffni is talking about a moving target, maltenby/top gun a static one. Yes the moving target is the difference however you are essentially remaining in an aimed position with your weopn pointed at the target even

  16. have seen the same thing happen but with a rimfire as well but on rabbits where I have shot for the head and the shot has taken off the lower jaw and it does look horrendous! but at least with the extra power from the RF if this does happen the animal won't be alive to suffer for long even if it does manage to get up or avoid the second shot. The difference is that if you do hit something in the jaw with an air rifle it may not be so obvious that the jaw is totally knackered and the animal may just crawl off an die without you realising what has happened. (Accept in this instance when you s
  17. I'll also considerably drop the power.... I use mine for close range stuff only. Feral pigeons in barns, etc. I've had umpteen crows & maggies when they occasionally stray into range, as well as two rabbits I've managed to surprise over a hedge on the way back to the car! I wasn't recommending it. just trying to find a possible justification with why someone might have done it as the lad was asking and someone had mentioned it in an earlier post. cheers
  18. should do if you get and see him in person, as long as your not dressed in camo and look smartish and are polite, I used to get a good few permissions when i was 16 and younger. you may be better though going through everyone you know and your parents know checking who might have land themselves. You may be suprised at who knows who and it will stand you in better stead if there is someone that knows of you through someone else and help them trust you more then if a random 16 yo turns up on doorstep. Shortening the barrel will make the gun easaier to handle mostly but as it is a tiny and
  19. I used to go and see them in person mate, and found that most of the farmers are pretty cool about it. I have only ever asked a handful of farmers that I didn't know at all and only had one out of them (that I can remember said no). some have said yes but only to ferret, one said yes as long as my wifes car isn't outside the house, one guy saifd that his nephew already had the permission but that he was no good, so I could go as long as the lads van wasn't parked in a certain place. but most times i have approached people in person they have said yes. i think it helps if you are not dressed
  20. Any pictures put up will always be regarded as ammunition by people thatr don't agree with hunting. Even though in the eyes of the law it isn't really. I suppose the only alternative is not putting anything up at all, which hopefully will never be the case. At least with the .308 it would be difficult for even the most rose tinted glasses wearing hippy to argue that the rabbit in the attached pictures somehow suffered. atb
  21. much as the comments made by the numerous tree huggers are total jibberish as usual. Leaving any snare/trap un-checked for 2 weeks is not ideal (providing the article is accurate). Had the person who set this been checking it every 24 hrs then this cub would have not been found and a load of bad publicity would have been avoided / a lot of hippies would have one less thing to sound off about. atvb
  22. I used mine as my main rifle for a period of time about 8 years ago when they first came out for rabbtis, squirrel, rats, crows etc. It could cope fine as long as you are realistic about the range. as you said 20-25 yard head shot only I now use it rarely but with an old night vision scope I have which doesnt allow you to see very far. The two go fairly well togerther as they both have a similar effective range. atb as for the scope I just used the little rubbish one it came with as the ranges were always so small up untill it broke completly. I would get a bigger one and pay a tad
