  2. What number of high jumps would you work up to until you were happy with your hawks fitness? My sons male redtail has been sitting in a breeding chamber for 3 seasons and is the most unfit bird i have ever seen.Ive been doing high jumps with him to build up his fitness but its been bloody hard work, yesterday after 3 weeks was the first time i got to 100

My old harris hawk hunted at 2lb 8 1/2 0z and was flown every day.I dont know if she was superior or not the bloke i had her off just said she was bloody big.To tell the honest truth she was no better or worse than a lot of smaller females
  4. Its always nice to hear that other falconers have trouble as well as me :icon_redface:Just a shame we all have the same scars
  5. I got hit this week as well by my sons redtail. The only trouble is after getting hit in the face quite bad by a female ferruginous hawk a couple of years ago i recon ive lost my nerve as i seem to be a bit nervous of hawks since

  8. There i supposed to be a copy of the sharps innova coming out soon.I was quoted £118 for the black stocked version.Ideal birthday present for my son and a fair bit cheaper than a pcp
  9. Picked up my sons male redtail on the 4th july(5 year old)and he hadnt dropped a feather until i had him i was told.Put him on quail all summer an he will be ready to hunt in a bout a week or too.I didnt think this was bad considering.I know weight increase causes the moult to start but surely the amount of sunlight available(or lack off) must make a difference
  10. Must be me but i always prefer the smaller birds although i have flown larger birds
  11. Those little males would make crackin hedgerow hunters, just think of the fun you could have
  12. Nice birds mate do you have any pictures of the peruvian harris hawks you had
  13. I prefere the myself as i think the extre weight gives my arms, shoulders and chest a better workout
  14. There seems to be quite a bit of interest in the small peruvian harris hawks at the minute, its a pity you havent still got em(just your luck)

  18. I had a hw90k for years before i sold it to buy my first harris hawk.Fantastic gun very well made with a great trigger. My mates used to complain it was a bit heavy but they always have been a bunch of weaklings :whistling:These guns will last years
  19. There is nothing on the highland outdoors website at the moment. The main problems they are having with importing the rifle is keeping it below 12ftlbs.This is all i can find so http://www.cannon-air.com/
  20. Went to the midland game fair on saturday and while i was looking around the highland outdoors stand i noticed an air rifle that looked familiar.I asked the salesman about it and he said it was a copy of the sharps innova.Ive owned 2 of these rifles before so i now how light, powerful and accurate they are and i thought it would be an ideal gun for my sons 14th birthday. The gun i saw had a black plastic stock and threaded muzzle and hopes to be on the market in another 4 weeks pciced at £118.It will be interesting to see how it sells
  21. Please try to remember a harris hawk is for life not just one season
  22. If you find your air rifles to heavy you need to work out more
