  3. Best spring powered ratting gun ive used is a gamo quickshot s.Full power, break barrel fitted with red dot sight and silencer and i know where there is one for sale at £70 :icon_redface:
  4. I bought my son a standard ratcatcher a few years ago and to be honest i spent more time with it than him They wouldnt be a lot of peoples cup of tea because you have to keep your ranges quite close and a lot of hunters cant get nowhere near their quarry
  5. A good goshawk is made by a good goshawker.Hats of to all you boys who fly them well :notworthy:
  6. there are plenty of working wheatens in ireland i will try and get some photo s for you dan There like rockin horse shit over here mate
  7. Looks like a red terrier i bought of len french about 16 years ago.Died last summer of heart failure aged 15.Crackin dog he was and very game.Hope you have as much fun with your dog as i had with mine
  8. Should have given the staffie owners a good slap
  9. Has your Harris been fed on rabbit, Alot of breeders only feed there young chicks, if your harris has only been fed chicks he will not reconise rabbit as a food source. Drag a dead rabbit for your male and let him have a good feed on it, repeat this several times. then your harris will reconise rabbit as a food source. I would not drop his wieght any more. put his wieght up a couple of onces and work on his fitness and as long as he is responsive fly him at a heavier wieght. Dropping a birds wieght is not always the answer to get it hunting. good luck
  10. hello sarge, the chinese underlevers don't have hidden cocking levers as do the airsporters, this is either a mk1 or mk2, much sleeker and nicer looking than all the later ones... john And can be very powerful
  11. Great threads and great looking dogs dan please keep em coming
  12. Its definatally an early bsa airsporter.Ive taken enough of the bloody things apart over the years to know
  13. Like i said its not usually the dogs fault, its the bloody kids but the dog gets the blame. The dog may be fine in a good house without screaming kids
  14. I would be tempted to keep the dog and ditch the kids Ive seen more out of control kids than dogs lately.Nothing that a bloody good smack would sort out
  15. Does anyone remember sabo bullets? They used to come in two pieces and you had to assemble them yourself and then load with a special tube.Used these in a mates vulcan and from a 20 yard zero there was hardley any drop at 40 yards.Deadly but bloody expensive and fiddly
  16. Glad you are happy with the pup skycat but you will have to get some more pictures up to keep us all happy.Until i saw your article in the cmw i didnt know working airedales were available in this country and i had been looking for one for ages.Hopefully Ian will have a litter at the beggining of next year and i can join the list of working airedales owners in this country
  17. Last year i bought my son a male hh as his first bird.He learned the basics with the hawk and got to the point of getting it fit and ready to hunt before it got stolen. To tell the honest truth he put so much time into the hawk that it broke his heart when i told him it had been stolen. This year with the help of a forum member(Gentle your a f***ing hero)i got hold of a 5 year old male redtail. With this bird i hope to teach him how to get a hawk fit and entered on quarry plus when hes busy at school i can have a few days hawking with it
  18. Just spent a couple of hours removing the varnish of my diana 52 stock ready for refinishing with oil.The problem im having is removing the stain that was applied to the wood before it was varnished. This isnt a factory finish but looks like a red stain that someone has applied. No matter how much i sand the wood it remains pink .Can i use wood bleach to lighten the wood and possibly remove the wood stain
  19. Last year while out shooting with a mate in mid wales we counted 32 buzzards eating worms on a field. The colours of the buzzards ranged from nearly white to a dark chocolate colour. My mate also sees goshawks which take his decoy pigeons while shooting
  20. I had t to give up walking my dogs in parks because of idiots with dogs running loose My dogs at the time were all kept on a lease because all of them would try to defend themselves(an akita,a shar pei and an irish terrier). The only dog we have left is a little jack russel bitch who couldnt do much to protect herself so i stay clear of public places
  21. dont worry adey when you get sorted let me know and we will see who can shoots the most in a week Ebo I dont fancy my chances I woldnt mind fitting a bipod as the diana 48b i tuned a few years ago had a bipod fitted and it worked well
  22. My wifes lab got attacked by a out of control gsd and my wife got severly bitten trying to part the dogs.I was about 100 yards away mooching with my Akita when i heard the attack. The akita tore off and attacked the gsd in defence of my wife and by the time i got there the damage to the gsd was terrible
  23. best off luck with the hh mate.I flew a female for 10 seasons and they really do get better each season
  24. I havent even started doing mine up and your shooting quarry already.Im never going to catch you up
  25. Tuned a mates diana 48b about 10 years ago and the gun was fantastic to shoot.I offered to buy the gun off him but he refused. So i spent the next 10 years looking for a secondhand 48 or 52 and i finally found one.The other two guns ive never owned but also fell in love with was the airsporter s and original 45.
