  1. could not agree more the grass was still knee high and the ferns waist high. this time last year the grass was right down and the ferns were almost down
  2. first trip out yesterday. a bit of anxiety before hand as i was taking two new ferrets out and was unsure of the hunting abilities. arrived at ground and took a little walk around. not many rabbits to be seen but plenty of fresh markings around burrows. so we set up a medium sized burrow entered the new hob who went down no problems.he reappeared shortly after that licking the grass at the hole but not wanting to come out. after eventually getting him to come out and him repeating the licking everytime i put him down he eventually stayed down for about ten mins then bang on rabbit in the net.
  3. everything gets used never have anything wasted. the family eats a lot and the ferrets get their fair share
  4. that pr88k with hte camera was a bit slow in joining in let her do all the shouting i would have gave him a real seeing to then probably fed him to the ferrets those antis just dont think about what they are saying. we hunters just go about our buisness doing what the land owners have asked us to do. kill the vermin
  5. alright buddy were abouts are you in ayrshure i am from barrhead glasgow
  6. went out to feed the troops yesterday to find the small hob kit had died really gutted. he was the runt of a small litter of five three hobs and 2 jills. what i have noticed though is that the jills seem to be bigger than the hobs is this common?

  8. sounds like a good idea might give it a try cheers
  9. as already said make any noise you want when going to feed them they will soon associate that noise with feeding time and will come out to you

  12. sounds very similar to what happened to my ferrets about four months ago went out to feed them in the evening running about run and eating fine. next morning my albino jill lying in bed not moving. she died about an hour later . watched the others carefully no signs until one week later went out to feed the and another two dead . so i removed the other two from hutch and run gutted it washed it all out with heavily diluted bleach (as suggested online for dystemper) other two ferrets survived and have bred. five new kitts arrived on friday. hope your hob gets better

  14. just returned from a weekend away down near stranraer. managed to escape the wife and kid for a few hours on saturday morning to do some piking with my dad. dad caght one small jack and had a few runs. i managed to land three jacks one of which was my first on a lure. only disappointing thing was on my second cast with lure hooked into a very nice low double and lost it at the side . never mind we all learn from our mistakes. as i am new to this sort of fishing that day actually doubled my total pike catch to date. cant wait to get out again
  15. My first ever pike on my first ever trip weighed in at 11lb 7 oz 7lb 6 oz blue trout what a fight
  16. i bought yellow polyester from dd timber. great service fast delivery and great product aswell. i taught myself, with a little help from videos on here, how to make nets myself. a little time consumimg but when you catch your first bunny in them theres no better feeling. and they dont tangle as much as my nylon nets. going to get a different colour to try this year hopefully blue

  21. during the summer my friend introduced me to pike fishing. on my first trip i got one about eleven pounds , i was the only one to catch that day. about two weeks later i convinced my best friend to give it a try and he was the only one to catch. then yesterday my dad decided he wanted a crack at it and surprise surprise he was only one to get a fish. there is something funny going on
  22. thanks for the suggetion on black bags and foam but i have bought one for ferreting1888 and me to use, so please lay off.
  23. thanks for that mate but to be honest i didnt realise that you could get one for under thirty quid although i hadnt looked that much before as i only took up piking in the summer and dont really do that much more of a trout man myself. people have opinions and can express them but there are ways of wording things that get points across without causing a war
  24. scrap last part of last post just bought one off ebay didnt realise that you could get one for under thirty quid
