  1. Reliable. Simple ,relativly old -fashioned vehicle to work on .Like Stubby says ,a bit short on space maybe. The rust never sleeps but nothing that can't be kept at bay for several MOT's without too much expense. My Suzuki looks a bit like a patchwork quilt thanks to some very artistic welding. I'd have another.
  2. Johnny Rotten sung "Never Trust a Hippy", but I would'nt bet on him being a hunting supporter. Just because a person talks about enviromental stuff, wears a CND badge and talks about conservation does'nt mean they are automatically vegan , anti- hunting types. Makes sense if you are going to meet strange people that you meet at your or their home, introduce parents/mates/spouses etc, everyone knows where you are going ,what time you'll be home .. Does'nt matter if you are 15 or 50 something along these lines makes sense and is polite . Remember you should'nt go off with someone just b
  3. I did manage to colour it both ends in different colours but photobucket have some new tool on there so i may well have a go on that Photo buckets?,'m lost apart from J DARCY's mention of the trusty K 1000 which I'm loathe to part with. "Skip it ",I was told. After many years of rattling about in game bags and being exposed to all the stuff it should'nt it's become a bit stiff n slow in action. Do cameras get like their owners !. Apparently Media students like the K1000. Anyone any idea how much an oil-change and service would cost?. Is it worth it? Bloomin Ell,one picture of a
  4. yes exsactly what i mean and breeding them to a pc should slow'em down but still be top pugs. Who said anything about crap stock just a bit o breeding on the side I'm not knocking you mate. If you have got a genuine polecat (I think experts can tell from skull details and seasonal colouring if I'm recalling something I read years ago.Possibly a Forestry Commission pamphlet?.) to use in the cross you might well end up with some skittish kits and adults that work so well they slaughter everything underground. Like I said though ,I'm not knocking you because if you are right about hav
  5. Not been for several years so I'll probably go if not working.Better be a real cheap army surplus stall though My wardrobe is getting a bit thin .I've got patches on my patches.
  6. Looks like a moth that's been assembled by a committee of Druidic art students using pre-Roman Invasion computer technology whilst listening to the Celtic equivilent of Hawkwind on personal sterios made from acorn shells. You seem to have summoned some worryingly goat-like creature (Top ,centre)literally out of the woodwork and is that a Mondeo or Mk 1 Fiesta parked at night in a damp side-street in the middle?. Crikey,I'm struggling to use a camera and load the pics into a borrowed computer and you are doing stuff like this!
  7. I 'm glad I took the two pictures now.To be honest I homed in on it because I wanted to try to get a picture of the dog jumping through the "V" of the tree. Then I saw the patterns .Really glad you appreciate them too Right up my street anything like this , next question is i wonder what created it, some kind of insect or i wonder if its just the way its grown I have allsorts of strange ideas buzzing round my head, fairytail stuff really but i cant help imagining spells & fairys for some reason Thank God for that! . I'm a relativly normal chap(Ok normal in my own
  8. mate of mine who ferrets several times a week swore by his but up n flogged it recently and is working on some secret device of his own design by all accounts. No doubt the world will be informed it it works and he'll buy a Mk3 if it does'nt.To me the Mk2 reminded me of the pre Grey box days when the crude locaters had a fixed depth of six foot and by moving the device nearer to the ferret the horrid sound reminicent of both an untuned radio and a M3(thanks for the muting with tape trick Stubby .So simple) simply increased. Most of us prefered to wait in the cold or used a line.
  9. I own both(like a wally I did'nt realise that new collars worked with the old box untill I bought a complete MK3 set-up.Could've just bought the collar) Like to think the new one is going to last 20 or 30 years of hard use without a hitch like the old one but I have my doubts.
  10. Out of interest are there any old Grey box locaters(so-called Mk 1) in Australia?.A Mk111(and Mk11) collar will work with the old Grey locater box but the range is only nine or ten feet. If funds are a consideration it's maybe an option if you already have an old -style locater and are only upgrading because the original collars have been lost or broken.
  11. Can I have the job doing the moles?

  13. Hello. It's a Pentax S 10.(£119) Girl in the shop said it was easy to use and so far so good. Three times optical zoom but then it goes bigger digitally. Two macro settings. Don't know about mag.I only bought it Saturday.I'll read the book .Really good manual-all in English ,one function per page. Had'nt realised how far cameras had come.I'd been clinging to my old K1000 thinking that these little pocket digital devices were little more than the old "instamatics". Thanks for the fiver tip .Guess what I'll be doing later?. Also as I said to Kay thanks for the encouraging words.
  14. Actually we are all the same but some are better actors.Stick to dogs and ferrets All the best

  16. Thanks.I'll have to get a tripod, learn how to use the timer (took me thirty years to half understand my manual Pentax K1000 .) and have another go.Mind you I'll have to find the tree again. Thanks for the encouragement.Cheers. Probably a daft question . has that been done naturally or by a person do you think ? its lovely i could use that sort of thing as a background for card making , the pattern i mean It's natural but I was up close .If you zoom in /enlage it does look like some Viking on a mushroom break got bored though. Right I'm a bit of a Milman on the computer but this
  17. I know. We,re not all beer -guzzling,insentitive ,macho cave- man types. For instance I like to regard myself as a particularly subtle blend of Peter Stringfellow and Homer Simpson .

  19. Nature blessed us with three means of defence. Fight or flight and cynicism!
  20. Just entered the modern World with a digital camera and been playing. This was taken on the" mackerel "setting but hand held so is'nt maybe as sharp as it might be.All the best.
  21. If you are looking at fishing rods ,a new gun ,a decent knife ,walking -boots ,etc and she says ,"Why not treat yourself for a change.Go for the more expensive one",it really means,"While you are in a rare spending mood I've seen a lovely saddle/bridle/jumper/dress/engagement ring(Eh!)round the corner". My old Headkeeper insisted that he wore the trousers in his household. It was just that his wife always told him which pair to put on. Remember ,there are three sides to every argument. His side. Her side, and the truth!
  22. Too right .The way they rushed out the Mk111 so quickly indicates that even the manufacturers had doubts about the M11. If you get a Mk111 make sure you keep the batteries clean and everything tight n dry.As Stubby has said the volume sensitivity knob is an important aid to location especially as the LED indicaters can be a bit ambiguous at times:thumbs:
  23. you should go out with other people more you might not be so quick to judge other breeds .No "Bull " here but each to his own. :thumbs:pre ban pic saluki /collie /grey
  24. what do them white hare's run like mate To be honest I saw her after it but then she was over the brow.Only hare she ever actually caught. The few others she ever chased were browns so maybe the blue ones are a bit slower. This one was.
