    i was told that .17hmr were very accurate in a gun shop in scotland and straight lined 100 yrds with no loss or gain in projectary?unless this was sales is sales pattern i dont know as i thought that as it picked speed up it would rise and slowing down it would lose velocity and drop,but he reckoned not for this was accurat in a line to 100 yrds true !! ive shot my hmr fpr around 4 years and it dose not drop noticebly over 100 yards ie you need no hold over cheers kirky ps hawkeye thanks very interesting read !!!

    Perceived maybe, but it's actually better. Prehaps the increased distance we shoot over with the HMR gives the impression of a less slippery bc, but shoot both back to back at 100yds in a full value wind and you'll see the HMR actually bucks the wind better. As for accuracy, 100 yards is a tricky distance, the HMR is definitely an easier and inherantly more accurate caliber at that range but at 60yards or less it can easily be matched and in most cases bettered by a decent .22lr. If most of your likely targets will be between 20 and 70 yards, .22 for sure, if it's more a case of 50-10

    the hmr is easier to shoot as the bullet flys flat and not in an ark like a .22lr the hmr is however afected by wind more than the .22lr but overall i think hmr is harder hitting and more accurate than .22lr my tupence worth !! kirky

    i hear what you guys are saying he is was a whatever and will rot in hell but we cant argue about gun laws needing tightened up as this prick slipped the net this said people change, we all do and i think us folk with guns need to go talk to some kind of shrink for an hour or two and have a yarn about life and a cupa tea, about once a year and then this sort off thing might be stopped and then again you just cant stop human nature my thoughts what do you guys think??? thoughts with the familys who lost there loved ones

    poacherman its only right to make sure a dog gets a good home and to ask a modest sume of cash often will ensure that the new owner can provide properly for the dog not all people are as good as our selfs or there would be no rspca plonkers in there little vans colin

    i just bought the above gun at a coughcough car boot sale from a guy who ive never met before anyways ive bought it and it shoots great it has a small scope on it and i got a tin of wasp pellets with it now my question is what was it worth its in good used condtion i know how much i payed for it and would like to know if i payed to much so let me know how much you think it is worth will post how much i payed in 30 mins cheers colin

    Same reason as why one shooting site split into two not so long ago. People like to judge others according to their own standards and, usually, without knowing the facts. Judge not least someone shell your glasshouse with stones... Or something along those lines... yes john but that all started because of someone boasting in post of shooting a fox at 180 yards when it was running at full tilt not clever and it might be done but shouldn't be posted for all to see not even by accredited witnesses !!!! forgive me if i have the wrong story nad or site but it fits for me colin

    this is the distance you can shoot on a very cam day with you .17hmr just over 150 yards of the bipod with great success, the burrows are the dark bits in the distance and i just sit and wait for mr rabbit to come out i just love it, but .22 is in the cabinet but still has its place and some bunnies shot with my 10/22 .22 lr i think the meat damage thing is just when you shoot them badly but you have to decide for your self whats best for you and your land colin

    Cheers mate. Got granted .22 and 17hmr both for vermin and fox. .22 for fox and 17 hmr for fox eh ??? who is your issuing police force mate?? as i know of no other force who will give Fox on .22 lr just being nosey and wanting to tell my fao thats all cheers colin

    my tikka hates remmies As well but groups at 1" at ahundred yards with home loads i did try federals and they wernt bad at all would kill a fox anyway colin
