  1. the keeper up here has a line of sealyham x russels, hes bred them for 30 odd years, he runs them as a pack.
  2. was out tonight ratting and after my dog caught a rat she gave it the normal bite/shake then set it down and was sick. is the just her excitement or is it more sinister?

  5. thanks for the advice folks i guess your right it probably does make sense to get them separate, i hadnt thougth of the scenario of the terrier nabbing the quarry etc. I guess the bull cross i would like will have to wait a while, im addicted to working dogs in this form now and sometimes its hard to tell yourself no, and slow down a bit for the good of you and your livestock! right now im like a sponge wanting to soak up as much of everything as i can as quick as i can, ill give myself a good shake and wait a while! lol its just bloody hard! Hi all im getting a new jack russell pup in 4 weeks time and im looking for your opinions on getting a lurcher pup at the same time, now part of me says two pups at once would be a no no, but then part of me thinks, well kill two birds with the one stone, ill only have to go through one lot of toilet training trashing the place etc etc. Whats your opinions on the matter?

  8. mick if you can try and yake him out with other terriers so he can just watch whats going on, if you havent that luxuary, like i didnt then it all depends on how your dogs maturing some will at 7-8 months others longer, you dont want to let him get in a scrape as a pup though or you may sicken him. Thats my advice im sure others will add theres.
  9. we managed double figures, in about an hour and a half, not great by some standards but considering most of the action takes palce in a 15 min period we were happy, any that were chased and not just seen diving into a hole in a wall were accounted for.

Didnt get big numbers, but thats not what its all about, as a few of you will remeber i came on here 7 or 8 months ago as green as the grass, so me and the dog are just learning the ropes still, but im pleased and so is the mutt with the way things are turning out. She got her first bite lastnight which is why a few more got away than should have done, she doesent normally hang about on dead rats but as i say this one bit her and she didnt like it so it got mauled for a good five minutes, she didnt want to put it down incase she got another nip. Went out this evening to do a bit of ratting after going out sunday and getting quite a few but being so hungover i forgot the camera so went out again to see if we could get some pics, not as good a do as the weekend but its always the same when you have no camera. Fletcher from here came along with his 6 month old pat to give it a look and he did well, once hes a bit older the rats wont have a chance as two dogs working the permission we have will be spot on!!   16. No just messing, didnt honestly think it was the actual date, are the pups going to be smooth coated or rough?

  18. 4 hours later and one tiered bitch and another pup pops out its 5am now and the number of pups is up to five now six now

My dads bitch is in the middle of giving birth at the moment, so far 4 pups, shes doing well, but starting to tire, its her first litter so its all a bit new, but quite amazing how they know what to do instincivly. Heres some pics in no particular order. theres still more pups to come but shes taking a breather i think.

  21. good looking setup, have you put drainage in? and a water supply? what kind of cost was it all?, sorry for being nosey but id like to get something like that done myself.
