  1. Have it on good authority that are tape worm cysts. I've been ferreting for about 50 years mate and only came across them in the last 3 years.Certainly gave me a shock and put me of eating them.
  2. Well done, can't help but admire your ability to stay so clean after a dig
  3. I'm pleased that you are happy with your dog mate But don't Slip him on deer its against the law. He can only chase rabbit and rat.
  4. Mk 1 box works perfect with mk3 collars mate. For me the mk1 is the best of both and I cant stand the noise of the mk3.

    army shovels

Wouldn't want to go any deeper than 2ft with an army shovel mate. They have been around a long time and the handles tend to break. The ones they Carrie on vehs are better.Bulldog is the baby.P1

  12. no, but does everyone follow instructions, do people with no training in the use of, still think about secondary poisoning, or using indoor baits outside etc etc even using fenn traps, are they in "tunnels" either homemade or purpose built, rather than just put in place theres a whole barrel of worms waiting to be opened on legalities, which "non" pest controllers may be unaware off, lots have mentioned traps, but no mention of tunnel have to agree with you on that one mate there are so many people who are doing it and altho they dont mean to cause any harm the dont realise what damage t
  13. You would be poaching. You must get permission from the land owner.P1
  14. you dont sell them you just need to buy poles and a basket i know i realised after i put it one of them i already have i think is 50yd the poles and the rubbers attached just need the basket....the other 3 are 25yds they have poles attached either end and some other poles that come with it...i'll have to get some of them rubber bits and few more baskets Just a quick point mate. You would get 2x50yds in one basket.you would get 3or4x25yds in another basket.Cut the cost a little. need any help I'll send you some pics.P1
  15. Start small and get used to running out on level ground in daylight I wound't worry about quicksets for the time being just get used to handling the net and avoiding tangles!!! and pegging out Some very good advice. There are many things that can go wrong at night the most frustrating is getting the net stuck on buttons, zips or the eyelets on your boots, only practice makes perfect. P1
  16. Not sure it makes any difference whether its wet, dry or the wind blowing from any direction. Not found a pattern yet. Only thing i've found is early in the season the young inexperienced rabbits will bolt easier, as the season draws on, they'll take there chances with the ferrets. Bieng quiet around the holes and keeping well back from sight does help a percentage to bolt, but not always, some just dont want to bolt and some do. Then there are those that the dogs run to ground, you would think they'ed never bolt after being hard pushed, but half the time they will bolt again. E
  17. Too expensive!!! It sounds like you do them cheaper mate how much for 50yds 6z all set up?. P1
  18. You may have to , but people who know how to set a net properly do not. That is a major difference. Bit of a controdiction going on there, me thinks. Like I said mate I can do anything with either net but the beginner would possibly be better with traditional for fences and uneven ground. Your choice ,Good luck P1
  19. Very nice ferrets mate. I'm afaid culler don't mean a lot to me and breeding for that reason will destroy the working ferret (my opinion), however IF they are are good working ferrets there is only one worthy sire, ANOTHER good working ferret. P1
  20. I use quicksets my mate uses traditional there is always keen competition between us to prove one type better than the other. To be perfectly honest there is nothing between them, there is nothing you do with a quickest that you can't do with a traditional or vice versa. In fact a traditional is better when it comes to fences and unleveled ground.Quick sets need a fair bit of practice. Hope this helps.P1
  21. You don't say a lot about your ferrets mate. If they are big strong ferrets you would expect them to kill quicker and more often than small jills. As already said some days rabbits just won't bolt so good ferrets will kill as opposed to just walking away. As already said locater and spade is the answer on bad bolting days and good ferrets will always get you rabbits. P1
  22. Sorry mate never mixed the two boxes but I can tell you for certain that a 15ft mk1 is accurate with a mk3 collar. With an 8ft mk1 box you double the reading with mk3 collar and it is accurate. The next time I am out I will test the mk1 8ft and 15ft box on 8ft collars I no longer own a 15ft mk1 collar. You can also tell the difference between the mk3 and the mk1 collar with the mk1 box.The knocking is slower with a mk3 collar Hope this don't confuse to much P1
