  1. I have noticed quite a few old mole holes becoming more obvious recently and there are no moles anywhere near them. This is in an orchard. So I wondered if rates took over the old runs and lived in them as they would have access to the whole of the run and it would give them good cover? I can see the line of run on the grass where the run has caused the soil to slip a little to outline clearly the runs.
  2. All PMs answered. Still for sale
  3. Deluxe Theoben gas ram in excellent condition. Ideal for competitions, range plinking or hunting. .177 10" barrel which makes for easy cocking Very accurate and easy to shoot, minimal recoil. Oiled Hyedua thumbhole stock with thumb shelf, crisp chequering which is raised on the forend. Two stage match trigger which is much nicer than the standard Evo trigger. Reliable Theoben HE gas ram design which gives a fast lock time and minimal recoil A classic and collectable Theoben in excellent condition. The blacking has not been rubbed off the trigger guard which happens with use, so little
  4. A realistic figure is 60p per mile given current costs, plus your travelling time.
  5. I caught 48 moles on my parents small holding last year so there are plenty of old runs. It is a cider orchard and two adjacent fields which have sheep on them, but not currently. I get moles visiting now and again following the clearance of them last year, it was badly infested. The moles are after the manure fed worms under the grass. This particular one has been tricky. Tumps in three places in the one field so I set Talpex around all of them. The mole made tumps in front of two of the Talpex but not triggering them, so I changed to duffus for these two. One duffus was trigg
  6. What I want to know is how big to make it if you are then going to go into the trap to catch by hand the birds and wring their necks. It has to be man size so you can get in. The one in the video looks a little small to get into easily. Presumably you use gloves and catch them as they fly round the trap?
  7. www.theflatpack.co.uk now sell claw traps (Talpex) as well as Duffus. Their own make rather than imports.

  10. Thanks Steve and UFCL. Steve has hit the nail on the head, or squirrel at least. I had been selling the carcases for 50p each until I saw the Budgens selling them for £3 and a butchers in Somerset for £3 as well. I cooked one and not the tastiest but very nutritious.

  12. On my parents 8 acres smallholding are two sets of hazels trees in two places and two Walnut trees all of which are nutting or fruiting. Mr squirrel(s) is taking the hazel nuts and Walnuts from one tree as the other fruits later. I have a live capture wire trap that I set on the floor under the hazels and baited with peanuts on a thread and I also strapped the trap on one of the Walnut branches again baited with the peanuts, but no success so far. And the squirrel has been on the Walnuts since setting the trap. The local council pestie use Kania and peanuts mixed with Sunpat Extra
  13. I was reliably informed that any badger reported to plod has an autopsy done on it to determnine the cause of death. The authorities are interested in the cause of death to monitor what diseases it was carrying and what caused its death. Bovine TB etc. So if a badger is killed illegally and then left as road kill then picked up by plod the cause of death will be investigated. A badger survey was carried out here some 3 years ago and some mature ones still carry the identifying tatoos. Take care.
