  1. Going ok so far, got 20 chicks and some sitting on eggs.
  2. Sunday July 1st, Broughton Red Rose Rugby Club, Gt Broughton, Cockermouth, Cumbria. 1.15 start, Lurchers, Terriers and Whippets.

  4. Good luck Fireman, got 4 chicks at a month, 4 at two weeks, 1 at 1 week, 4 at 3 days and two sitting on 4 eggs, so its fingers crossed, be more than pleased if they all rear them, early days and first time so prepared for some troubles along the way.
  5. First ever chicks, I'm a newcomer to the fancy, got some at 4 days and others sitting on eggs, fingers crossed.
  6. Flimby, Near Maryport. Cumbria, Sunday 27th May, racing from 11am, show 1.30.
  7. I have had 3 pairs of Fifes with clear eggs, two pairs were sitting on 4 eggs, two hatched from each pair, removed the nests from the others, replaced them and two sitting on eggs now, one pair havent even shown any interest in building a nest.
  8. Yea I agree mate, they dont advertise if fully to increase attendance.
  9. Today Sunday May 13th at 1.30, Wheatsheaf Inn, Lorton, Near Cockermouth, terriers, lurchers and Hounds.
  10. Fifes produced a four egg nest and one 3 egg all clear, another pair just starting. Poor so far.

  12. Im a complete novice mate and just joined a local CBS in Cumbria, loads of help and advice but a lot have their own way of doing things, pick the bones out of it all and I use what I feel comfy with.
  13. I have a few last years cocks and they are singing, have done for a few week.
  14. Yea Im happy mate, got fifes really to start with but seen the mules and fancied one, Im happy whatever he sings hahah, Fireman reckons I will have a shed full soon... HAHAHH hes been right so far, I started last year with 2 fifes.
  15. Sound very similar to the canary cocks but with a bit of finch at times, Im a newcomer so im assuming as its slightly different at times that it is finch.
  16. He has just started and is singing well now, he tries to outsing the fife cocks, I have 6 fife cocks so hes at it a fair bit, very lively bird.

Bred last year from a goldie to a Fife, not sure about colour fed but the red is very distinctive, went to a sale and some were selling for £140, me being new didnt want to pay that much, got this one for £35 from a bloke about 12 miles away, have joined a CBS club, meeting on thursday so hopefully meet more people in the know.

  19. Cheers lads, I have also used ivermectin drops on each bird, i got it made up at vets, it only cost £3 for enough for 50 birds, used an artist brush to dab one drop on each. Thanks for help, advice gratefully received.
  20. I have been advised to dust my cages , nests etc with diatomaceous earth red mite powder anyone else use it, what do you think of it.
  21. I like mine to jump on command, I like my dogs to jump but what i choose.

A fine cross section fireman, first year im sticking to fifes, got 6 pais now hahah, varigated, whites, buffs and self greens, clear yellows a good mix, just split them up after getting used to each other, you were right the sofas gone and a bank of cages replaced it ha, nesting gear bought, cant wait now, hope we are succesful. New Cages just lifted in see photo, 3 x double breeders and 6 x treble breeders, the new ones are hopefully to put the young uns in.
