    Living in Ireland now moved home properly about 15 years ago

    I’ve an English and Irish pension there’s no comparison between the two. I genuinely don’t know how people could survive on an English standard pension without any other means

    I’ve never understood why benefits chasers went to the UK I suppose maybe it’s easier to be housed there or whatever. A life on benefits in Ireland is far better financially than in the UK from the dole right up to pension there’s no comparison

    Great times I’d say the 1980s dole numbers around Cricklewood and kilburn had an unbelievable amount of Johnny and mick Murphy’s was literally like money blowing up the street bringing family over for a weekend on the drink signing them all up and sending them home

    Yeah it’s the scale that’s frightening. I was an emigrant myself as were most young Irish men in the 60s and 70s most went for a better life and to send money home but back then if you didn’t work you would be left to starve unless you had some other way to get your loaf. I’m trying to figure out why the EU would do it I’m not an educated man so wouldn’t have a clue of the ins and outs. Other than bringing in voters I can’t come up with anything
