  9. thanks for that mate, have filled in the form putting down all my convictions even though they may be classed as spent, i dont want to seem as if i am trying to hide anything, have been advised to get a gun cabinet and get it securely bolted to the wall in the corner of a room, out of sight of casual visitors, then there will only have to be one visit from the FireArms Officer, if i am not sucessful i can always use it for my air rifle
  10. a puppy peddlar to me is someone who has no regard or care for the dogs he is breeding, just seeing them as money makers, i believe mike brown is very passionate about his dogs and he is producing some quality dogs, good luck to him i say and would never label someone like that a peddlar Tim
  11. i am in the process of filling out form 103 to apply for my SGC but, i do have some previous convictions for gbh and reckless driving but both are over 20 years ago, also my wife suffers with depression, will these things count against me, my mate says that if it would help i can store my gun at his adress as he is already a SGC holder and has plenty of room in his cabinet, would i benifit from joining any organisations to make my application any smoother, i have done a search but didnt find the information that i need thanks for any help Tim
  12. how about camarthen in our very own welsh wales, not too far and lots of farmland, i havent been there for years hunting , but the farmers were overjoyed to have someone keeping the red numbers down, not sure about house prices though , good luck with your quest mate !

  14. thanks for the replies so far guys, let me put my question another way, when we were allowed to catch reds on the lamp with dogs , was this a good cross?, i am not talking about the pot bellied show type KC staffie i am talking the taller more athletic type, there are plenty of these still around, there are still people about who breed staffies for whats inside rather than what they look like
  15. thanks mate, was wondering if that would be an issue, but you dont know unless you ask
  16. i have done some searches here but have not found what i am looking for, i am interested in my next dog being a lamping dog for rabbits etc, and want a whippet type as they are small, i have lots of experience with staffies and want to know a bit more about the dogs this cross will produce, my staffie i have now is 11 years old is still very athletic and has proven himself many times and wouldnt mind a pup from him if i could find a proven whippet to breed from, please can someone give me some advice without tearing me to bits if this is a bad idea of mine Thanks Tim
  17. loads of guns for sale on bbs, would get a good second hand one for £150 dont be tempted to buy any of the cheap chinese rifles though, they fall to bits click here
  18. meteor spares just finished refurbing my old meteor, found when clearing out my aunts house when she died, was my late uncles from many years ago
  19. i have considered some of the hw models, but have heard they are not that good out of the box anymore, need to be stripped, rough surfaces smoothed down, polished regreased and put back together, even heard that some needed new springs straight away as the std ones looked like they were cut by a blind man with a sledge hammer, certainly different from the hw77 i had many years ago, the tx is the one for me, pro-sport is a little expensive as the new rifle is goin to be a xmas pressie off the good lady wife cheers guys
  20. hi i have been away from air rifles for a long time, maybe 15 years, cut a long story short i have the hunting bug again, have been trawling the net looking for forums to gather information about the score on hunting with air rifles these days, this does seem to be the only one with what i want to read, as has been previously said all the other forums i have been on, the members seem obsessed with how many guns they have and how close their grouping is at 40yds, anyway nice to find some tidy info, i look forward to learning a thing or two from you guys and cant wait for rabbit stew again
