  1. What’s the official proximity distance to be considered a derby ? Cheers.
  2. I’m looking forward to the Newcastle Everton derby tomorrow….. Well they are two completely different cities in England but somehow that counts as a Derby now ! LOL ! Cheers.
  3. Let me know when you’re up here, I’ll take you to the best ( cheapest), pubs in town ! LOL ! Cheers.
  4. Ok , if I had said when I started this thread that I was looking forward to the Newcastle / Sunderland derbies you would have said it’s not a Derby , but never mind, you’ve got what you wanted. Ill look forward to going to the Newcastle Sunderland games next season if I can get tickets, you can call them derbies , I won’t. You got your bite, I’ll leave it at that . Cheers.
  5. Every year in a friendly, but they both compete in the FA Cup and could be drawn together. We still wouldn’t class it as a Derby. Newcastle is a city, Gateshead is a Town. How can two cities without even a common border such as Newcastle and Sunderland be considered a Derby , you might as well say Newcastle and Portsmouth is a Derby , it’s nonsensical. Cheers..
  6. FFS, Newcastle and Gateshead are about 50 yards apart but nobody would call that a “derby “. Cheers.
  7. “Cheesy chips for a pound” All kidding aside, when away supporters come to Sunderland they fly into Newcastle AirPort or get the train to Newcastle Central Station , drink in the Bigg Market or the Quayside, stay in hotels in Jesmond and get the Metro to Sunderland for the game ! Cheers.
  8. “You come to Newcastle to fly to Spain”…….. Cheers.
  9. When I first went to contract for the Saudi Arabian Air Force, the American housing Officer thought it would be a good idea to billet two lads from Newcastle and one from Sunderland in the same apartment “ as we were from the same place “ ! As it turned out me and the lad from Sunderland hit it off and are still best mates 47 years later ! Cheers.
  10. f**k off ! You’re taking the piss ! LOL ! I’ll put that down to military humour ! I’ve been on the Army Rumour Service Site for years so I have a basic understanding of the perverse military humour ! Cheers.
  11. Is Sunderland Middlesbrough a Derby ? Is Newcastle Carlisle a Derby? Of course they are not . Neither is Newcastle Sunderland. Milan, Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester , Glasgow, Sheffield, Birmingham have Derby’s. Two teams from the same city, that’s a Derby , not local rivalry. Cheers.
  12. It’s not a “Derby” ,Steve mate. Newcastle is a one club city, as is Sunderland. To me, Derby’s are between clubs in the same city. A great rivalry, yes ; but a “derby” ? No . Cheers.
  13. Southwick wanted to twin with Mogadishu, but the skinny’s told them to get f****d ……. Cheers.
  14. I worry for his safety Stiffy! LOL ! He does tend to get a bit exuberant ! Cheers.
  15. Sunderland have just won the “richest game in football”. Max will be ecstatic, he’s there at Wembley! Cheers.
  16. Just normal malt vinegar, little bit of sugar and warm water. I sometimes use brown vinegar but the missus insists on white vinegar. Cheers.
  17. And there you go ! The bait was cast , and immediately taken ! Strrrrrike ! LOL ! Cheers.
  18. I think the one before the 100E was the 95E popular, nicknamed “the sit up and beg”. I had one of those aswell but the 100E was the first one sort of legal ! LOL ! I remember the wipers working off a vacuum system from the engine intake, the faster the engine revved, the faster the wipers went ! Cheers.
  19. I pickle a lot of veg and found that gherkins or cucumbers are best picked and pickled as early as possible before the skins toughen up. Cheers.
  20. I kind of get what he’s alluding to; a fast, up and at ‘em type like a grew will be more injury prone that a plodder type coursing dog. But that’s not the point, the laws of averages is simple , the more work a dog, any dog, does , the more chance of it getting injured. Cheers.
  21. What’s there to disagree with ? LOL ! If a dog never gets out, it doesn’t get injured! The more it gets out , the more chance of getting injured ! Doesnt matter how “smart” or what type a dog is, hitting wire, farm machinery, a foot going into a hole , getting hit by a car, whatever. A pure greyhound lying in its kennel or just lead walking won’t get injured, but get it out hunting, sooner or later it will ! Same with any type. Of course, some types are more injury prone, but that doesn’t alter the simple fact; the more work they get, the bigger chance of injury. St
  22. It’s a lottery; the more tickets you buy, the more chances you’ve got of winning; Same with dogs; the more work they get, the bigger chance of getting injured. It’s part of the game sadly. They don’t get injured lying in the kennel. Cheers.
  23. First car was a Ford 100E, I think it was a 1959 model. A rust bucket, but as has been said, things like an MOT were “optional extras”, like wing mirrors and radios, back then ! LOL ! As for dog motors, Morris 1000 van, a few Viva vans, a Simca 1100 van, an ex police Maestro, but when I went abroad I moved a bit more up market; Subaru AWD Estate; Range Rover; And when I came home I got a Hyundai Santa Fe; Cheers.
  24. I did wonder where my political sparring partner had got to ! I thought maybe you had a “Damascene “ moment and realised that far left ideology wasn’t the answer to the worlds problems and had a breakdown ! Joking aside, have a great summer; I’m almost at full time work with the allotments and breeding hens, but I’m enjoying it ! Hoping to get some fishing in aswell. Cheers.
  25. Reminds me of when a policeman was asked, I think it was during the Lord Lucan murder inquiry, “what do you think happened ? “ He replied “ I’m a policeman, I’m not paid to think”… Cheers.
