Had a cocker that was full of field trials champions in its lines. Great worker on land an some cover but when it come to thick cover couldn't do the work. You look at lads who work spaniels day in day out. There working on open land grass cover , woodland , game crops. Beaters beating thick cover to draw the game out. A spaniel is ment to stay at foot until the shooter as shoot the quarry. Then they'll have pointers to point up so you could say the pointer is the hard worker. So your right mate you can't beat a terrier for any work up an above the sod.

It's each to there own pal but for me you can't beat a terrier for all-round work.

He's standing at 13inch an my bitch is 14" terry. Breedings there so hopefully be some nice pups time will tell.

A spaniel is great for working most cover an land. But hard thick cover a spaniel hasn't the right coat for that. My pals got a spaniel an it's f****d when it comes to tight cover. An the bitch I've got here is a parson bitch so will be just right for cover an the rest. She's a great dog round cover just since she f****d her leg up an had opp she's not been same. So will stay with me but won't do much.

Am hoping to use the pups I keep back for cover work an maybe abit more but will see about that . The sire ive used has seen work but not my place to start talking about what he has an hasn't done. But hes 3 seasons in . He's a well put together dog an got decent parenting. Grand sire is owned by a lad up Northumberland same again smart looking dog an seen abit he's still with owner doing abit. ?

Nice drive up north east at the weekend to line my bitch. This is the sire the dog on the left. Nice well put together dog standing at about 12 " tts. Fingers crossed the bitch has taken as I'm keeping two pups back an a few lads are taking the rest. He's a well put together dog stunning head nice tight feet nice good spring on ribs just a cracking dog I'm pleased.

I've some spare breeders same style. Was going to use them in my new birdroom. But decided not to an made some indoor flights instead ? So I've two blocks of a think 4 so 8 big breeders altogether.

Few more pairs of feeders paired up all looking promising. Many are last years birds so letting them rear there first round. Then come end of march April should be ready to use as feeders. I've always done this. A would never trust a young none proven pair of canaries to bring on my sib goldfinches just incase they wasn't no good at rearing mate

Put the pair together two days ago. Top pic of the nest was taken yesterday when the cock an hen was building. Bottom picture taken this morning hen sat tight on the nest. Come morning should have first egg in nest.

I've heard nipper on one of the bird forums they may not be going ahead mate.. Alot have said that it may be a good idea to stop the birds coming through but keep the sale open for products ?. Which in away is a good idea. As you'll know your self mainly all the decent stock will of been sold back end of last year so mostly the birds going in march will be that aren't upto much. Plus it's not worth the risk so close to breeding season taking any diseases back to your birdrooms. You ready for the season mate ?
