would you like to miss a day? i feed everyday its how id like to be fed

let them come on and maybe they can learn what we actually do? they get an insight into the world of hunting and learn how we actually operate, who knows maybe even convert a few, with people offering to take them out etc etc. some hunters also show their working ferrets, and go to ferret racing events as a hobby which is great, why knock them? if there not doing any harm and arnt anti hunting why should we be bothered?

my mate got sum stuff off the vet and watered it right down and it seems to have works , and regards to the size of the kits head, i thought it looked very large and it had a long neck but now its caught up with itself and it looks very healthy all ten still alive and kicking and she comes out every day for a stroke shes been a perfect mum for her first time, at night she brings more hay/wood shavings into the nest box as it gets colder and in warm days she brings it back out. i think it is fleas every one, as i dont keep poultry stubbs. every one has been more than helpful, thanks
-
cheers stubbs il have a look into it see if i can get hold of some.

thanks for all your great advice i didnt know if there was a spray i could buy that wouldnt harm the kits but as for now il leave it and maybe when the mum calms down i can give her a wash and go over her with the flea comb. i cleaned out all the main part of the hutch but i dont know what else i can do at this moment... great advice from all of you! thanks lads

its both space and eeeeew because she hates me hunting and coming back with rabbits, i have to gut the rabbit in the green at the back of my house and even then she nearly crys saying that hunting is cruel blah blah blah..im the first rabbiter in my family ya see and started last year hopefuly to raise my children to be the same , but back to the point, if i was to get a chest freezer to solve my problem how would connect it to mains power permenantly extension lead of some sort? and when i get rabbits i would usually just gut the rabbit and leave in kidneys lungs etc so all fur is intac
-
thing is i cant freeze the rabbits, mum wont let me, i was thinking of getting a chest freezer for the out house and running mains from the house? because i cant freeze them atm i have to give them the rabbit the day i get them During the summer the ferrets only get a few rabbits now and then due to me not ferreting much, they usually are fed on the biscuit stuff. il certainly use your advice and try and use smaller portions and maybe i can drop the rest of the meat i know i wont use to a friends or sumthing.

Well today i checked a rabbit i had caught and given to the ferret on saturday evening, when i checked the rabbit all seemed fine until i was cutting the rabbit into sections and i opened up a portion of the leg when all of a sudden it was like i had cut into a pocket of maggots , there where around 15 and i couldnt believe it. The hutch is inside a concrete out house , how could this happen so quickly? Is there any way of preventing flies from entering or being deterred from the out house? Many thanks , Danny

the ferrets will tend to use hair from their bodies to line their nest as kay has pointed out, nothing to worry about
-
separate them asap for a month or so till the hornyness goes down lol should be ok after that.
-
i made a post on the ferreting section yesterday about my catch on saturday and one rabbit was pregnant and the young were still wriggling about, i couldnt help but feel sorry for them lol but the ferrets didnt mind them..........

Hes a really good worker, when i first tried him out he was messing about and jumping at the holes so i didnt think he would make a good worker but i think it was just due to his age, hes my best worker now
-
well yesterday i went out on the moped to my new permission i had aquired a few days previous. Walked around done a few warrens that i had saw rabbits run into the night before but nothing, had another dander and saw a rabbit run into a newly dug warren only a six holer but it was right beside a warren around 20 - 30 holes. Any way i put in "viper" my best working hob as my jill ( Amy ) is pregnant. So in he went..................nothing after 5 mins, nothing after 10 mins, then around 15 mins BANG one rabbit, and by the time i had necked it another ran into the net right be side it to the rig
-
i dont think the hob would eat the kits , if you think about it when the ferrets live in the wild the male wont eat all the kits or the ferret population would decrease, of course the hob MAY eat the kits but i would bet more often than not he wouldnt.

Same here

Im breeding my we jill today i didnt really want to but i tried the jill jab which didnt work and i tried a vasectomsed hob but it ripped mine to bits. so im gona breed her and let her have babies, cant wait
