  1. usually with lurchers when they open its a sign that they have been started to early in life for work, and once they start there is no stopping them, and there is nothing worse than having a sounder on a good nights lamping on forbidden land, about the barking collar well i would,nt bother as you might stop him from chasing completly.
  2. WELL TYSON, MY GREYHOUND BTCH IS AWAY FROM HER PUPS A WEEK NOW SO I WILL START TO DRY HER UP NOW,AND THEN I WILL WORK ON HER TO MAKE HER FIT AGAIN,MAYBE A GALLOP ONCE A WEEK AND THEN A BIT OF ROAD WORK TO START WITH,ABOUT TWO MILE A DAY FOR THE FIRST WEEK LEADING UP TO ABOUT 5 MILE,COULD TAKE ABOUT 2 MONTHS BEFORE SHE IS READY TO HUNT AGAIN.
  3. Reading the hunting paper it looks like the bull has taken over the suluki into the lurcher world,i remember years ago when you read the countrymans weekly every add on lurchers and longdogs had suluki in them, but now its the APBT,s turn.
  4. well thanks lads for your replys, you have made my mind up for me,this is the type of dog i want, now the lad that was selling this 3/4 greyhound bull has decided to hold onto it,but thats life,so now i will wait out for a pup and add it to the stock i have already,so lads THANKS AGAIN and A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL.

  9. Hi all,i am in the process of getting a 3/4 bred greyhound bull,i want to know your views on them as a all rounder,[deer, fox, hare and rabbit]do any of you lads and ladies own one or know someone that does,or have you,s had one in the past, looking forward to your replys.

  11. was out for a ramble this morning early in Ashbourne co Meath, snow everywhere, never seen as many tracks in all my life of Fox,Badger, rabbit,a odd deer and a couple of hares, dogs had a field day out,
  12. I do my own,it cost me 13 euro 50 cent for both, and the parvo cost 5 euro to be given to pups at six weeks of age,i split the parvo into half and apply it to two pups just to give them a start in life,
  13. Well lads i have read the posts and i think they are very true,i bred half bred deerhound greyhound and suluki x greyhound years ago,and most of them were as good as any lurcher day or night, but i have to say that a three quarter bred was a different story completely, and the half bred could,nt hold a candle to the 3/4 bred
  14. good looking pup, best of luck with it
  15. Goose, they were 4 weeks old last friday.
  16. great looking dogs mate,i had a bitch like that in the first picture years ago,she was a deerhound whippet greyhound,a powerhouse of a dog,she would take any quarry day of night.
  17. Thanks Frank, yes the pups are doing well,i have just today gave them their first taste of milk with a couple of rusks mashed up in it,and they seem to be getting the hang of it,the bitch is a great feeder, she will eat mostly anything you put down to her,so next thing is the parvo shot at six weeks of age just to give them the extra start in life.
  18. Thanks Bryan, yes these are only bred for my own use and hopefully they will get the work they were bred for. just a picture of the mother herself.and the father is the dog in my avatar.
