  1. Nice catch and bitch looks in good condition
  2. Has anyone experience of Bushnell Banner scopes? Thinking of going for an illuminated reticule scope to replace cheap and cheerful Nikko Stirling on my CZ 22. A lot of the illuminated scopes on the market seem to be aimed at the airgun market with adjustable parallax and high magnification. Really just looking for something in the 3 or 4 to 12 or 16 by 40mm range with either normal crosshairs or else mil-dot.
  3. Hi Spartan, Have deerhound x greyhound myself and what Skycat says is spot on. My fella just can't be arsed running back and forth retrieving balls etc in garden but as soon as he caught his first bunny he retrieved it live to hand. That's not to say you should be too lax with the training but just that they don't enjoy "play" retrieving like say a Lab would. Spud
  4. Chopped the cigar plug off as soon as i got it and connect it straight to a 7A battery
  5. Matty if you're looking for a top notch high leg boot you should have a look at Meindel. They do the "Army Pro" and the standard height "Army". Had a pair for years now, few mates who walk and stalk all year got them too and are well chuffed. One of them sent his back to factory to be re-soled, after 10years use!
  6. Cracking bird and pics Fletcher. Have you tried him at any feather yet?
  7. Got myself a Lightforce Striker variable a few weeks back and well pleased with it. Would say it's worth going variable alright. The full power is useful but you don't need it a lot of the time and save battery by turning it down a little. Obviously only had it a few weeks so can't comment re dodgey wiring but I did hear that they've improved the wiring over the last year or two.
  8. He's hanging at the moment. going to try it as a starter before my venison chilli cooked in homebrew tomorrow!

    My Fhh

Lovely hawk and pics! Am planning to get myself a Harris, have you any experience of male harrises? Am leaning more towards a male at the moment. Spud
  10. Was out after bunnies this morning and managed to shoot my first grey squirrel. Haven't had any ground with them on it up until recently. He was chasing a rabbit and then disappeared into a hole in tree. Waited for 20mins and still no sign so I shot the bunny and came back to the tree an hour later, nailed him shortly afterwards. Shot 10 bunnies but only 1 was free of mixy
  11. Nice. Thinking of the same for my CZ. What length is it now(without moderator)?
  12. Looked at one last year when my missus was getting herself a 22 for plinking / targets. Had a few shots on the range off a benchrest. Trigger pull was a bit nasty but no more so than an out-of-the-box Ruger. Accuracy was pretty crap although that could be down to dodgey mounts/scope as it was a club gun. Really depends on what you want it for mate.
  13. Hi and welcome. What fieldsports are you involved in? Spudlington
  14. No bother. http://www.anglebooks.com worth checking out for them.
  15. Fair play SnapShot. What county you shooting in? Fine looking beast. The most straighforward step-by-step photos on skinning i've seen are in "The Deerstalking Handbook" by Graham Downing. For skinning/caping to keep a trophy head "Field Dressing and Butchering Deer" by Monte Burch is good. The best photo sequence on butchering and how to bone out legs into the various cuts I have is in a Yank cookbook "Preparing Fish and Wild Game", worth getting it, plenty of recipes you wouldn't see in game cookbooks written this side of the atlantic. 16. Good on ye Franco for giving it a better chance than it had
  17. Congratulations Wag, must be a gutsy little male you have. Planning to get a male Harris myself.
  18. Cheers Frank. Getting any lamping in yourself?
  19. Out again last night, two lovely catches. Really seeing big improvements every night. Meister was only entered a few weeks back, these were his 8th and 9th rabbits.
  20. Hope it's clear for you tonight mate. Should be back out tomorrow myself.
  21. Went out for an hour last night, not a breath of wind. Very few bunnies out on what is normally a good spot. Got one good chase and catch. went into next field and there were three foxes in it, no wonder the rabbits were nowhere to be seen. Tried calling them but they were very lamp-shy and didn't hang around. Got something for the pot anyway. Spudlington
