  1. Cheers for the replies lads. So Ditch have you any suggestions on how to minimise the attraction to rats?? Was planning on sectioning off a spot near enough the house for the hens and putting ferret hutch down between dog-run and aviary for hawk.
  2. Alright so i've got a chest freezer full of venison, just started a veg patch (my first ever ) shelves of homebrew ale cider lager and wine and I have herbs growing outside the house. Next step, do I knock up a hen-house under the apple trees and let them run free when the dogs are in their run or do I get a few ferrets???? In the ferrets favour: I've got a big lump of permission for bunnies at the moment and it's going to keep on growing, got two longdogs and will be getting a Harris Hawk this year. lots of requests for bunny control so a few ferrets and a longnet might be just the job.
  3. I use Deerhunter trousers and think they're the dog's boll#cks for stalking. Haven't used the jackets, at the moment I use a Snugpak jacket but Deerhunter should have something that fits your needs whether cammo or green.
  4. Oh right so let me get this straight. I'm just back from a quick bit of lamping where my dog caught a bunny that he retrieved live to hand and I despatched cleanly within about 30 seconds of the chase starting. The dogs are now tucked up in their run with a bowl of venison and warm milky water so that means I'M THE CRUEL ONE BECAUSE I LIKE TO HUNT BUT THIS C#NT IS ALLOWED TO DO WHAT HE F#CKIN WANTS COS IT'S ART!!!!
  5. Just looking for advice on whether air pistols are up to the job of humane despatch of trapped squirrels mink fox etc. I have been considering getting myself a 22pistol for target shooting but since geting myself a precharged pneumatic rifle i've been thinking an air pistol might be a better choice. I could use it for a bit of plinking and would also be a more discrete way of humane despatch than carrying a sleeved rifle around. Anytime i feel the need to shoot with something a bit more powerful i can shoot 9mm's etc at the range i'm in. Chhers Spudlington
  6. Recently got myself a BSA Scorpion T-10 and am loving it. Since the laws have been relaxed here I have been shooting rimfire and centrefire pistols at the range i'm in and was planning on getting a 22 pistol. However I now wonder if a precharged pneumatic pistol might be just the job. I could plink away happily at home with it and anytime I want something bigger I can rent a 9mm at the range. So is anyone on here using a proper pcp pistol, ie with air cylinder? Would they be powerful enough for humane despatch of trapped squirrels or mink?? Cheers Spudlington
  7. Good price, cheers for that, will pm you for details if i'm heading up that way.

  9. Scorpion T-10! See thread on my new toy!
  10. Cheers lads. I have to say i've had so much craic with this rifle in the few days since I got it. Have shot centrefires, shotguns and 22's for years and shooting handguns since laws were relaxed here a few years ago but i should have taken up an airgun years ago. Same hassle getting a licence for one here as for 22 so most people don't bother.
  11. Had a good bit of a play around with it over the weekend, well pleased. Bolt and safety are nice and smooth. Inserting the mag is a little fiddly at first but you soon get used to it. Tried three different pellets over different ranges. Bisley Pest Control performed poorly with fliers and erratic grouping. Gamo Pro Magnum and Eley Wasp both seemed to be spot on with very little difference in point of impact between the two. The group below is 10shots taken from prone position at 35yards with Gamo pro Magnums. Called in to mate to collect a few sacks of greyhound food on the way home and nail
  12. Good work John. What sort of money was the camera? Have the Muckboots myself, they're the cat's pyjamas. Spudlington
  13. Will be giving it a proper bit of use over the next few days so will see how it performs and let you know. Air weapons not as common over here due to the licencing situation so there wasn't a great choice of pellet when i collected it.
  14. It's a Simmons Whitetail Classic 1.5 - 5 x20mm, handy piece of kit for pest control.
  15. Collected my Scorpion T-10 this afternoon. Set up a target when I got home and had it zeroed in a few minutes. Christened it within an hour of getting it home when this lad dropped by. Lovely accurate piece of kit, well pleased so far. It'll definitly keep me happy tgill deer season starts again. Spudlington
  16. If your 243 is for deer then why not put a 6x40 or 8x56 on it and use the 3-12 for your HMR. Recently got a Bushnell banner 4 - 16 x 40 with illuminated red/green crosshairs. Very happy with it for bunnies crows etc. Spudlington
  17. Agree that a 22 for the bunnies and a centrefire for the foxes is the way to go. If it has to be just one rifle then what about a 22 hornet? The hornet shooters on here will be able to advise you how it is on bunnies, i've only used one on foxes a few years back.
  18. The standard 1/2 inch thread. About €350 from Crescent Sports in Monkstown Co Dublin. Deciced against the T12 reflex based on the size, the fact that my hi-leg bipod would probably touch the mod when folded up and the fact that they can't be stripped for cleaning.
  19. Cheers lads Will try both on it when i get it back from being threaded and go for whichever feels bettere balanced.
  20. Getting a moderator for my Sako Finnlight 6.5x55 very soon. Think it has come down to an ASE unit but which one do people use/recomend?? I had a look at both the Jet-Z COMPACT and the S5 today, leaning towards the thinner longer Jet-z compact but just wondering how they compare to each other in terms of performance and noise reduction. Cheers Spudlington

  22. The government here brought in a 25cent levy per plastic bag a few years ago, think it is actually a bit more now. As Ditch says there are still plenty of scruffy b#stards throwing other stuff around but it is very noticeable how much fewer plastic bags there are around. You get so used to using re-usable cotton bags that when abroad it seems an outrage to have plastic bags just freely available at the tills! I think it really has worked well.
  23. Not cleaning out the filters but yes there was plenty of nasty stuff in there! The pool in the phot has 3 independent moving floor sections, each floor is in fact "false" and can be raised or lowered at the touch of a button, changing the depth to facilitate kiddies groups, competitions etc etc. In the phot i'm standing on one section that is raised fully. The surface-supplied kit might look like overkill for a swimming pool but you are diving underneath the raised floor section so can only access the surface through a small hatch. Get a few days work a year there checking the cable system an
