  1. Ayoop, where about in NW's mate? U.
  2. I'm not surprised as the Lux looks like an elephant gun. And they don't have an american in stock, Personally, I'd be tempted to buy the Lux and order a Boyds stock. For what I reckon would be approx £100 after import duties ($99 = £70), you'd could have a far nicer stock than either, assuming you can fit it yourself, and for approx £30 more than the American overall. Nah. The barrel is too long. It has fixed sights etc etc. By the time I'd removed them and had the barrel chopped and screwcut, it would be absolute fortunes. Scopes are for wimps lol. U :-)
  3. Hungerford The Deer Act and the prohibition on non-expanding was 1991 1996/7 for expanding ammo restrictions.Think it was the late sixties for the deer act and hingerford resulted in auto rifles and slide actions being banned except 22 rimfires. Also certain shotgun restrictions. Hungerford involved a auto rifle using fmj ammo! Dumblane involved expanding ammunition in the crime. U. I stand corrected, wires were crossed. You're right, it was the Firearms Amendment Act 1997 for expanding ammunition/missiles. The original Deer Act from 1963 was repealed by the 19
  4. Took four camera shots to get fidjet arse Jess to keep still! U.
  5. How do and it seems OK on here:-) U.
  6. I'm sure I've seen that rifle somewhere before , but being an old boy I've forgotten, my guess would be .38 or .357 or 44-40....whatever, circa 300-800ft lb across that range! Am I close? 357m mate. These bullets had a flat which must of helped however a 22250 will have alot more velocity. A friend tried some 45grn full patch in his 22250 and they did fine on fox too. U.

  8. CZ 527 American (Hornet) 2.7kg. I'm not suggesting CZ are Lite, but I struggle to see that as bloody heavy! Yes I know that the .17Hmr is heavy due to that solid lump of steel with a tiny hole up the middle but my American has a very heavy stock as well. CZ 452 4.JPG And the lad at the club has a CZ550 in .243 and that weighs a ton. I don't buy a gun intentionally by weight, but if I pick up a rifle that feels too heavy I tend to pass on it. But then again I am a decrepit old sod these days, as you can see by the lovely little bitch that replaced my Lab. G Full
  9. Good grief Alsone, it's a 22-250 V a fox, how much energy transfer do you need! We are not talking about a little .177air rifle, this is a 22-250FMJ with circa 1500-1600 ft lb, where do you get this nonsense from? I stop foxes very effectively and very regularly with a .22lr sub at less than 100ft lb! I am not suggesting the 22-250 FMJ would be my first choice as a fox round, but if you can't stop a fox VERY EFFECTIVELY with it you need to take up knitting instead of shooting! Got to agree. Is sewing OK lol.
  10. I shortened the barrel on my xs78. It had a bent bore! Commonly near the muzzle. The rear sight was way over to the right and it bugged me. I bent the barrel but after a while that bugged me! I bent it straight again and trimmed it back to 18". Yesterday was cold and not ideal for co2! I was eager to try 'stumpy' though. U.
  11. Most 17 barrels are heavy, by default. U:-)
  12. Dunblane, not hungerford yeah? Has anyone used them, other than me? U.
  13. I made a rammer from black delrin and stuck a wood ball on one end, it slips through a belt. U.
  14. It's nuts how hard it is to get hold of a hornet, a perfect round for Britain. From rabbits to fox, perfect. Only buy second hand if you have checked the bore for yourself. They are notorious for condensation! U.
  15. Cool. Was it heavy, always thought pigeon guns were built heavy? U.
  16. On here? Anyone use any muzzleloaders on here? U:-)
