  1. Ooth and sweeping The chicken ranch was having the odd bird lying around with its head missing so I strolled up there to take a look.

I scanned as I went and then out of nowhere there it was, 30yds the other side of the wire (chicken side) watching me stroll by!

In a smooth and fluent manner I brought the rifle to bare without stopping.

No cold winter nights for that vixen!

As everyone else has stated, you'll be grand, as long as you have good reason and not been a numpty you are entitled to one. You wouldn't have got as far as an FEO visit if they were going to turn you down. Just be yourself!

My last FEO visit we talked more about archery than my rifles, quick look at my cabinet an jobs a good un ?

My last visit by a female officer noticed my wife's take that CD on the stairs.

She spent most the time blabbering about all their chuffin concerts she had been! Talk about snooze feature!!

It was only  just over a week ago that it was 23c down here . Every year when it gets hot people moan about the heat. So what do most people do they have their holidays in the summer or go abroad for the sun.  And whAt have we got to look forward to.  Short days, cold, wet missed able weather. Roll on global warming.  Sod the cold weather.  I'd much rather be pigeon shooting over stumble than trying to keep warm on a wet drafts day.

    Barrr humbug ?

i know it is a well underestimated calibre.i have a lot of respect for it and have shown to other people just how powerfull this is.actually was asked up the club yesterday what is the biggest animal that can be leagally taken with it.had to think about it but i think it is fox which if true does make you wonder why the yanks can shoot wild boar, black bear and other much larger animals with it

    Our laws are crazy.

It's capable for all our deer but 'experts' got in the way!

It is close to 30wcf which is deer legal! The deer would not tell the difference.

Oh and I have shot large red deer stags with a 30wcf.

The RWS are slightly slower than the Winnies which is presumably why they're quieter. I find the accuracy to be consistent.

I've read a few times lately about Winnies going bang now and then.

I don't mind slightly slower, I'm slightly slower, I was slow to start off with. Captain slow is my nickname!

I find them excellent in my Annie 1417 Better than Winnies. Not desperate yet but no-one local has any. Got Wins and ccis if I need em.

Duknow, I think I have only ever bought two bricks of winnie subs in my life!

They are good generally but I just seemed to get mediocre performance when I tried them! Not tried them in this Brno though!

  7. Out for first light. I don't need an alarm clock, I have a granddaughter!

Made the fire and brews, well, I made the brews after I cleaned the fridge!

The carton of choccy milk I opened last night had leaked! ?

Anyway still got out in time. Listened to the pheasants come off roost (can't shoot these ones) and generally watched the wildlife come alive.

    Never saw a fox.

Shot a couple of squirrels and moved onto another farm ( where I can shoot the pheasants). Came across some birds a couple of miles further on. I ummed and ahrrred but then a 70 harder stuck his head up so I took aim.

A little hold over and windage and I got a good neck shot, not bad for off hand.

    IMG-20181027-084714868.jpg

Another mile and I got on some crows, I love dropping a crow.

    IMG-20181027-091733624.jpg

You just can not fail with a 22 can you.

Misses, sure, 200yds crow, 150 yd magpie and a 130yd jack saw.

Shot a close squirrel low but Jess found it dead.

It turned windy, a cold wind and cloudy so turned for home. Six miles I think I walked and could just go bed but the Mrs has other ideas

  8. What to take. I was tempted with my Chinese air rifle.

The rimmies just weren't talking to me. Fancy an early with the 22 tomorrow if wind good.

    Cartridge shotgun. Nooooo.

Got to be a flintlock then ?

I got my gear ready last night so as soon as the fires were made and lit me and Jess headed for a small patch the owner gracefully let's me help myself.

I was just putting the sneak on a rabbit when this dark pheasant comes running at me! He disappeared in a cloud of smoke. No delay from the lock, klatch boom. 32g of mixed #1& BB at 25yds crumpled the bird.

    IMG-20181026-150607339.jpg

Next was a rabbit and then another cock bird at 30yds. I shot as he ran for cover but lifted instead. He was hardly off the deck when he disappeared in the smoke.

    IMG-20181026-161323309.jpg

Content I turned for the car and on the way got another rabbit. Jess was sent to catch the crippled rabbit before it made earth. The plucks of hair showing just two strikes to the spine.

Not a bad haul for a primitive gun.

Yeah, hence why I said "in my opinion", side by side the T1X felt like a superior product "to me".

I'm not knocking anyone else's choice of rifle, or their ability to hit a target, just sharing my experience ?

I pay alot of attention to how a rifle comes to my shoulder. No interest in shooting rested, any rifle can be mounted for that. No it's when shooting off hand a rifle for me has to fit just nice.

Nothing beats a Winchester 94 for fluently coming to my shoulder for an off hand shot.

My Brno just sits there so it came home.

    My 452 fits well.

Many a center fire rifle has been way to long in the stock for me. Great off a bench, useless in the field if you don't want to carry aids to help with a steady aim!

Enjoy your rifle. Look right from here.

Now I'm envious, we don't have magpies, pheasant, squirrels or fox, all we have is deer, rabbit and grouse. I have even seen a couple of mountain hare in the last two years, they might make a come back. The fishing ain't bad though if ya know where too bimble ?

    20181008_124522.jpg

    Envious!

    I'm envious of you!

Fresh fish, venison and rabbits, then there is little or no traffic. No Next or M&S.

Everyone says hello and doesn't turn white if they see a gun.

Beautiful beaches with no one on them.

    The weather.

    No, I'm envious mate. ?
