Has any pures won any competitions then that have included coursing dogs?

I bet many pure aficionados had to admit through gritted teeth that the coursing bred dogs were superior to pures on the UK hare.

Does it really matter though as long as they are having fun.

That Shady won against crosses, and did well in the forley.

Not much in it with some of them

I have a pure, this feller can run,.....and then some.....but he's been bloody hard work for the last 2 years, bred from working parents ,and I can honestly say I'll not have another for hunting, his plus side though is he's a fantastic guard dog, proper strange and protective of the home......

    Natural watchdogs, it's a trait

  3. Another vote for rabbits way out on rough ground, probably jinx the next pup but they normally catch the first one.

Don't think missing daft rabbits on the lamp or all summer long missing rabbits on holes/cover in the day does pups any good. Sure lots of faults folk talk about are learnt from this sort of thing

Never say things like “if you see game keepers leathering birds of prey, or blasting badgers heads off in a snare ring crime stoppers?” do they?

They do, but not in so many words. Wildlife crime, B.O.P persecution

throw back to the rough coated lurcher i think some dogs in the litter looked like saluki

i think fred seagulls sire was from macs sam he was pure sal unknown breeding  x sal half saluki half rough coated lurcher same as fly blue etc

weres miles or optimus when you need them ?

    Fred's dam was Bess(Mushy X Smith's Fly)

Mushy was Ivor's Rose(long coated "Norfolk") X Browns saluki grey.

They say some of the first litter out of Bess's brother Rebel to Eve had that much coat they were bucketed? ??‍♂️

Maybe some coursing dogs did have the odd bit of non coursing blood somewhere in the lines but it would be that diluted it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference, I hardly doubt that's the reason for them being great dogs.

Collie, beddy, bull, "Norfolk" all sorts in them at the start. But like you say mainly saluki

Who knows what was happening, were they trying to get hold of the dogs because the peelers were there?

Read they were ripping through Bedford hanging out of vehicles, holding hares out of windows, and two of the 4x4's were ramming each other in Bedford ???????????................?

Now if I remember right for the story the lad got a leather book signed off him.So I don’t think darcy met the the coming to think of it and I think is might of been the 1st or 2nd book he wrote.I just know the pic that is in it so like a lot of books you read and if you know the story it just puts ya off from reading them.

It's in Running dog addiction, you've mentioned it a few times. With these new ones, there must be 30+ books, your pal or whoever didn't write all them lol

Older book mate, there’s is a dog in the story and the pic show my mate with 2 deer in front of him. That was caught off 2 deerhound greyhounds and the story is about this bullx bitch. And it was made out the the dog got it’s 1st everything and it was a load of shit and all lies.My mate who has the original pics wants his money back for the book as that story put him off from reading the rest of it.Basically you could tell the book was all lies.

Don't know any of them from Adam, but if someone sends a article to him that's lies, or he's interviewing someone and they lie, he can't help that can he

It does always fascinate me how folk talk about feeding dogs. While I totally agree it’s good to feed them the best you can and condition them right and that a hard working dog needs good grub...... I also think sometimes it’s as much about the person as the dog, feeding very expensive kibble or complex raw diets. There would be plenty of hard working farm dogs fed on cheap dry feed and scraps.

Yep, take salukis/saluki types, they've  developed over thousands of years to live on shite basically, they just need  decent UK food imo. Daft paying treble for something they don't need. Haven't owned a collie but they seem the same. I'm not saying feed shit before anyone reads something that isn't there lol

Makes no difference, I think it’s an old wives tale. When whole prey is fed, either to a pet or wild animal, it will eat meat, the intestines (which will be mainly veg) and bone. All these may digest differently but it doesn’t make one bit of difference.

    Yep, think the same ?

Gilbey it was something I was told but I have no worries as I only feed raw and my 3 do well on it ,

After working for a well known working dog feed company for ten years and seeing what goes into it and conditions its made in it put me off feeding kibble full stop .lot of different names on the bags and % of this and that but in truth the only difference in % is the oil they put in , no I stick with raw .

Tried a few things, but always gone back to tried and tested meat and biscuits. They've all had a take on it, and been fine

Will an air rifle still be accurate if it’s windy?

Not as accurate, but you'll be closer. You can't shoot at something that's ran off because it's seen or heard you

There’s a field right on my doorstep with a couple rabbits and I’ve been there twice in a row without any luck but I don’t want to go again in case they go lamp shy and I might have a go some night between now and next week when the weathers good In another place where there’s rabbits that I haven’t been yet in the dark

You'll do better on a dark windy night, than a bright still one?
