  1. I usually wait untill their balls drop then take them in I have also had them done later in life 1 and two year old without any issues.
  2. No fish but still a great day out and about birds were singing and the sun was shining, and the new pup an endless supply of entertainment
  3. Out and about today putting a few more in front of the pup young Chase is really showing some promise, he continues to make me smile and laugh a lot such a character, ended the day with ½ doz in the esky. Enjoy.
  4. The closest thing we get to a wild polecat here is a severely inbred ferret with psychological issues that cannot be handled Ha Ha ferrets can’t live in the wild here we have a mite that causes footrot that if left will kill the ferret not to mention the abundant predators
  5. Took the Pup Chase to get his second vaccination injection today on the way home I stopped to do a small burrow and have a bit of a walk along the river, only the one but a great chase and catch by fleet, It is good to see the pups enthusiasm improving too.

In answer to your question, you will get varying opinions on this subject but here’s mine for what it’s worth, some hounds take longer to mature mentally than others (up to 2 1/2 years for some I’ve seen) if he/she is still puppyish one tip many may not agree but it’s worked for me take him on a lead with other dogmen with going dogs and just let him see the business sometimes that’s all it takes to turn a dog on, the more exposure he gets the better when you think he is ready let him join in not before then you can start him on his own, that method has worked for hesitant starters for me in t
  8. Not only is it a good thing but a prerequisite in my book, plenty of good dogs with bad people problems Ive had plenty of pig and fox dogs none were dog aggressive although I have had a couple that just didnt get along
  9. I have owned a few of these over the years, if you get a good one they are great ferreting dogs and a handy lamping dog for rabbits as well P.S not for the faint hearted!

  16. Taking a week off ferreting to give the dogs a break and time to recover from their niggling injuries, just can’t stop Fleet he even brings rabbits back to me while I’m fishing, such a good dog. Pup ( Chase) 12 weeks old is impressing with his attitude and smarts.
  17. Unfortunately Gus some people are beyond all psychological or medical treatment, it would almost be a kindness just to put them down. ?
  18. He looks to have the right stuff, we will see how much natural ability he has been blessed with as time goes on, Time will tell how good he will be but one thing is certain regardless, I am his forever home he is family now.
  19. Out and about with the ferrets and dogs put down the odd purse net managed a few with the dogs, I do this type of ferreting if the ground suits it’s one of my favourite methods and I’m sure the dogs would agree. Enjoy guys
