  3. this is my weaton cross a night mare to kennel. a bit noisey and just has his own mind . has been running through ditches after foxes even before he caught his first one. picking up rabbits grand too but is bred from fox killing dogs since the eighties some deerhound in him too. as well as some bull.what ever could catch and kill on its own was used in the line but mainly weaton crosses. http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/5452/img0829ee5.jpg http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/3161/img0904rt0.jpg

    R.I.P

only just read this post now. terrible news rip
  5. is there any good dvds of foxing single handed. seen the dvd or a least i think i did. tought there was one or two dogs that had to be doubled up as they would not catch alot on their own. and one or two dogs that looked usefull and could catch most foxes on their own. but where doubled up. is it the same dvd that they get a fox under a tree and still throw it out for two dogs?
  6. in the same boat with a weaton cross that my mate reared till twelve months. which he could not live with. tried nearly every thing you have too. the only thing i can say is some times we can spend a little too much time with them as pups either training or just having a laugh with pup working out its charachter. might be better to leave him and let him get used to being on his own. this was probably the first thing you tought of but just in case best of luck
  7. is that the north east of ireland duckwing
  8. rumor has it that there was ten caught that night istead of nine . jusus podges dogs look top class . say that black pup will be one of the best alrounders next season. that ireland has produced
  9. i do be at most of the shows in ire . will keep my eye out .
  10. michael it was the summerhill area. still no sign
  11. still no sign of the dog. was talking to the chap this morn and have been told that the dogs tail was never docked. so it might be easier to notice iif any one sees him. the dog is well marked up too.
  12. not sure dale if it was taken it was decent so i hear. i was told the dog was on a chain. but the lad is not the type to have strangers near his yard. when i seen the dog he looked a stamp of a parks type that you see in some books .
  13. a red terrier has gone missing from a yard in meath area. it is a strong enough dog a bit big for some foxes. there is a fairly large reward for the safe return of this dog. or where it might be. will try to get pic as soon as i can.
  14. one of my pups feet looks bad at the moment one of his toes is definatly longer than the others he got a little slice between the pads about 2mm wide . just last week noticed one toe is not sitting right. my stupid fault for not getting him to the vet. i think i know everything some times even at that he runs rings around other dogs while still being a pup and only seen a myxi or two. have seen saluki types with feet like a duck and be able to run the same speed on most types of land. and get little injurys. does not matter what they look like esecially at the young age he is.
  15. had the very same problem with a weaton cross . did every thing right with the dog . sit stay retrieve out of water. at twelve months started him hunting and was catching well but burying rabbits on me. got some stick frrom it . so i bought a training colar and stopped him working for a couple of weeks brought him out to the local field every evening and stated him on instant recal. which he did nearly every time any way but the times he did not i used the colar on him. starting from the lowest level . you just have to make it uncomfortable for the dog and have to be carefull n

  19. well i dont know any dog man who can take a dog out of his yard at any time and give its best perfomance. but in saying that i dont let my dogs gain weight over the summer months either. and give them more walking during the summer. was just saying that some nuts while not hunting hunting the dog is not going to do too much harm.till just before next season
  20. some times i wonder about half of the people on this site. all this technichal crap and most of us know that its inpossible to keep a dog at peak condition all year round. working deerhound if you want to feed your dog nuts through the summer months go right ahead.fair play to you. as most of us on this site have done too jusus we are turning into a pack of scientest on this site
  21. is that rynard hunter when he was eight or nine years old. with a ten pounder . looks in the high twentys at least. would say about twenty seven pound
