  1. just because a pup is bred right dose not for one miuite mean it will make the grade itself. everybodys opinions and standards are different. but for a dog to be bred out off in my eyes it really must be something special, % off the dogs out there are bred out off inadicate parents.
  2. so your talking of haveing a bitch maybe 4 to 5 years before she has her 1st litter,? i personaly belive that is around the right age for when they have proved themslf
  3. i dont think its possible for the average man to have a "breeding plan" the amount of space time and cost would be out off reach of most. first off all you need to source a whippet then a bull that task alone could take many years to search for the best, then when you have the litter youll have to run the entire litter on so you could select the best to carry on the line but even the best out the litter may only be average, what then do you wait a futher 5 years and start again i dont think many are that paitent. so the average first cross is then put back over another whippet or vice versa, h
  4. i find there to be a higher percentage off workers in a litter out off two half crosses. i beleive you need bull on both sides for more susefull off spring. there are some good quality firstxs out there but a lot off people mess up using un tested greyhounds, just cause your adding bull doese not make it a gaurnteed dog
  5. if its mainly rabbits you want it for id personally recomend a 3/4based sight hound
  6. give it a good kicking with steel toe caps on. fear lasts longer than respect. on a serious note the things you state your pup is doing is not beeing bad just beeing a pup. which is the reason why i and alot off other people prefere to keep dogs out side. punishing a dog for being a pup is only going harm the bond wearhas a dog in a kennel appreciates you more while your there and is only repromanded for more seriouise matters like showing to much interest in stock. a pup chewing is nothing out the norm if its not to be chewed move it out off reach.
  7. forgat the subaru if you want a real go anywere 4x4 land rover is the best option not these pufter little wanabe 4x4's i used to have a 90 300tdi and i agree it was good rarly getting stuck, but she was just to slow and if you was traverling any distance by the time you got there you was that stiff and full off cramp that it took aggood hour to straighten out and then the day was spoiled my dreding the ride back. but after saying all that i would have another if i was in the situation to beable to run more than one motor. my dog bus has to double up as the familly car allso.
  8. im in the north west and im looking for 2600
  9. up for sale is my 1996 on a p toyota hilux. tax: 30/04/09 mot: 15/04/09 engine: 2.4 diesle (non turbo so better fuel economy) she is a double cab pickup with a original truckman top whick locks with key. she has recently been serviced including timing belt, and also recently been resprayed and waxoiled again underneath. she is sitting on a new procomp three inch suspension lift and 265/70/r16 colway c-trax mt tyres with loads off tread left. she has 122k miles on the clock. she has just had two new batterys a reconditioned starter motor and alternator. the rear is fully plylined so fre
  10. just saved them links for them subru parts. if i was to get a subru aND give it a lift are they capable or will i be gettitng towed out every night. im currently driving a hilux 3" lift mud tyres, but does nothing but sink. i can only afford one motor for familly and dogs am i makink the right choice with a subru. ive been offered a trange rover petrol v8 75 k on clock but auto which puts me off its on a r reg he wants 1000 sterling. if it wasnt auto id be interested if i could get an lpg confersion for a good price. what do you thinks best for me. p.s if i get stuck ive lost my motor.
  11. do all the subaru manuals have a low box or is it just the forester. what are the impreza's like off the tarmac i dont mean the fancy turbo ones just the normal estates
  12. next season ???? this one is'nt over yet.... i'm using a forester but not that new, and that one looks like it's on foreign plates.... And some unhelpful twat has put the steering wheel on the wrong side! that must be why he drove into that tree then
  13. but then what do you do with the pups out off a untruley tested bitch which was only bred because she was exciteable, under the deluded thought that a litter would calm her down and make her a better worker. im not having a pop and i appologise if you think i am.
  14. i feel i need to add that i personally have never bred a litter off lurchers out off a bitch ive owned. ive had bitches that have deserved kennel space without question, but for one reason or another was not right for a litter. there is always good dogs but rarly great dogs, ive never owned a great dog.
  15. ideally for me it would be between 5 and 7 that way the bitch would off proved herself over a few seasons still be youngish and healthy anough to cope with a litter without causing unnessary complications, the pup you keep back can learn the ropes off her and take over letting her retire. but as you say the bitch is excatlly what you want and dose everything you ask off her. if that is the case and your totaly 100% happy that that is the way you wish to go id start looking for a suitable stud that task alone may take a while if you havent already got one in mind. remember if something unlucky
  16. i dont belive pikeys only use one particular type off cross. but the most popular for coursing is the saluki based lurcher
  17. a freind off mine has two bitches litter sisters they are and he regulary runs hares with them by moonlight. its not something i personslly agree with but they dont half have a good sucess rate.
  18. how long will a 10ah battery last approx
  19. which is the best the legacy or the forester and why. are the autos any good or are you better off with a manual
  20. just go out and enjoy is the main part nobody learns without making mistakes. most importantly try to walk and slip the dogs with the wind blowing in your face, and good luck
  21. i like a smaller bitch for foxes (pre ban)i find it to be an more even match for the quarry, some off them big dogs could take the fun out off it some times. but if its a first cross thats thrown small they can sometimes be a bit cloddy, saying that tho a mate of mine use to have a 3/4 bull which was only small she was bred with terrier work in mind but she was allso good on the lamp she was faster than the first crosses we had at the time.
  22. ill get some more pics up on weekend
