Browning A-Bolt .222

On the verge of ordering a browning a-bolt in .222 cal, has anybody got one or previously owned one, would just like to know the pro,s and cons of these rifles before I fully commit myself. Cheers Del.

I have a Browning A bolt in .270, got it new about 15 years ago, excellent rifle I have several other rifles (not Browning's)

and the A bolt compares favourably.

Also I had a 22.250 A Bolt Varmint for a while, again very good, I only traded it as I'm a lefty and the '250 was a RH, the

270 is a LH.

The trigger was only OK, and you can't get a drop-in replacement (like Remy's), but I fitted a Timney light spring and now it's

just right, even compared to my Heym which is a top of the shop rifle.

I had one in .243 and didn't like the trigger at all, even with a different spring it still felt like a rusty bog door latch. I got rid and replaced it with a Tikka T3.

Good rifle mate, Seeker has one in chavy .223 and it is an accurate rifle, the trigger is not bad, I would imagine it could be made very slick with a bit of fettling and polishing, dont think you will go wrong with an a-bolt and you certainly wont go wrong with .222 thats for certain

Well 100% going to be a .222 but which model………budget of around £1400 so many choices , but want to make the right one from the off

Just joking but its not aimed at you, I was making a statement of the top of the table rifles in modern times which is a toss up between the sako 85 and the tikka t3 (not my decision but probably on sales) just happens to not be german.

Yep I have a Browning "A" Bolt in the wonderful .223 calibre

 

Very we'll made you won't go wrong with this rifle

Had a think, and a good long look around, and have decided to go with the Tikka T3 lite, synthetic stainless dressed out with a Burris Four 3-12x56 illuminated

 

ASE Ultra S moderator.

 

And if i have made the wrong choice time will tell, and be it on my own head, and at my expense.

Sounds a good setup del and I guess we all chop and change at some point mate, good thing is what you've mentioned is all quality so that shouldn't be a problem if you need to do that.

I also have a Tikka T3 and out of the two this is the better of the two rifles however the A Bolt is a superb bit of kit

Congrats. Tikka are good guns.

 

However, if you'd wanted Stainless Fluted I'd have had a look at the Browning X Bolt as well:
