Thinking Of Getting A Quad

Recommended Posts

Thinking of getting a quad for the summer either as a project or just to have some fun on. This year ive been out with my mate on his kvf/klf quad pottering around on the permo doing a bit of shooting to say im impressed with its off road ability is a under statement but on road its not so good.

What are the 2 wheel drive ones like off road

And is there any quads that seem better value for money, should I steer clear of the cheap chinese ones any info would be good

i have a honda foreman 450, selectable 2 or 4 wheel drive. it comes into its own when off road or towing through muck and shite but not really ment for high speed road work. and yes, stay away from the cheap chromed up chinese shite, loncin, sky team and the likes. make from coat hangers and pipe cleaners!!!

the yamaha yes, its a recognised make and parts readily available and saleable when you want to move it on, the other one you mentioned quadziller... the name says enough, leave it where it is mate, its a christmas day special! the blasters are a good little quad, 2wd sports quad, not ment for towing or work tho.

the klf for 150 quid..... mate a pair of tyres for a decent quad cost more than that so i wouldnt waste my time on anything less than a grand. if you want trouble and a crock of shite pick up one of the cheapos on gumtree or whatever.

you need to decide if you want a road quad or off roader.the offroad quads are not much cop on the road, larger knobbly tyres, dont help with speed and handling.ive a kvf 750,its good on road if needed but really its an offroader.

I've got a Honda 350 full 4 wheel drive fukcing thing can go anywhere off road ... On the road it goes where it f*****g wants  ..............

lol that about sums it up in a nut shell my mates is the same, I think I will look at getting a 2 wheel drive it will get me from a to b on the permo and im hoping it will get me were I need to go off road but most of the estates I go on have good roads across them.

Ive looked at some 2 wheel drive quads on the net some chain driven some shaft but the one thing that struck me is a lack of rear diff on some any one know what they handle like

my 400 was a bit sketchy on road, but most quads are due to short distance between the wheels, you got to know how to handle the b*****ds.my 750 a bit better but dont like hard cornering,it wont slide out like the 400,which is how to corner a quad.

after playing on my neighbours quad that he uses in his woodland, I came home wanting one for our wood too, speed was not so importand, but the ability to tow a small trailer with logs was, looking on e bay I was either looking at 2k plus for something half decent, or cheap as chips and take a gamble, well I went a complete different way, and bought an old sit on mower instead  it'll do everything I want it too, might even fix a gun rack on it, and try a bit of lamping
