I couldn't get my pickers up to use one for love nor money. Drove me fecking crazy, waiting on the cart at the larder, for it to turn up with heads on strings & body's in the bottom.. Head twizzling fannys, I should have just shot the lot of um !!!!! :-)

now't worse mate I hate seeing folks twirl the bird round why they can't use a priest or learn to use a flight feather I will never know.

 

same here looks very unprofessional,a friend of mine used to pinch the back of pigeons and they used to drop dead.can you tell us the flight feather method?

 

Yep the way I was taught and use on pheasant is to pull a primary feather then using the sharpish end of the quill push it up from under the birds lower beak through and into its brain cavity its' a lot easier and quicker to do than explain

Well you've taught me something new Dan. I'll be trying that flight feather trick.

 

Personally, I find a priest is just something else to carry around. A chap to the head with my stick is my preferred method. Only thing I hate are those bloody neck breaking plier things, from the amount of birds I've seen still alive after those. Tbh I just don't like breaking necks, makes hanging them unsightly at best.

A decent priest mate, hold the wings together at the back and they will hold their heads up, give a good sharp crack to the back of the head/top of the neck and hey presto their going nowhere. Get a priest of a decent length tho, the one in the second link is near useless. It would be more like punching the bugger. Around 10" is probs about right and if the length is right there is no need to fill with lead.

Bet you need to hit them more than once.

 

Best of using the spin technique with ducks. Completely severing the neck.
