Orange Eggs!!??

Out working the ferrets yesterday and i noticed that a couple of them had some tiny orange eggs around their back ends

 

Anyone come across this before? Is it a vet job or can i treat it at home.

I dont know what to suggest as Ive not come across it, but Im sure there was a thread on here about worming ferrets and someone said ferrets dont usually pick up heavy infestations of worms, and, due to a short digestion tract - didnt require worming. I dont know how true this is. Someone more knowledgable should be along soon... Make sure you wash your hands lol

iv seen those before..never caused a problem for mine,seem to go away after a while..a dose of ivormectin or something from the vet would do no harm anyway,its not that expensive.

Thats great, theyre booked into the vets tonight.

 

Do you think they are eggs then? Mites or bot fly maybe??

Seen thes eon my dog before took her to the vts was given spot on and cleared up

my wifes shihtzu had the same looking eggs inbetween her toes and we weere told that they were harvest mites , rubbed some spot on onto them and all sorted

Beaphar anti parasite spot on for ferrets you can get it in pet shops kills all mites great stuff would even do mainge. ; )

looks like excess oils that ferrets produce & has attracted bits & dust to it , its usually on the hair follicle close to the skin

Back from the vets, confirmed as Harvest Mites.

 

She treated it with some front line and said that it should not return as it is a summer time problem.
