I think a lot of people are getting a bit confused by St. Patrick's day and what it stands for.

It's a Church holy day which became a bank holidays.

It's not F*ck You i'm Irish day.

recently st. patrick's day has become paddies weekend/festival so it can be used for marketing and promotion.

If you want to celebrate St. Georges day like a paddies weekend just pay 2-3 times normal rate to get into a packed nightclub or pub and pay 50p-£1 extra for every drink you get in.

No one fly's the Irish flag because it's st. patricks day despite what drinks promotion companies might make you think.

It's meant to be a celebration of the bringing Christianity to Ireland not some ultra nationalist celebration.

surely you have enough english things to be proud about without creating some faux celebration?
