jembo 0
Went out on saturday early evening to a spot where a few bunnies have been seen. Had the 3 dogs with me, and the beddyxgrey flushed one from the brambles to the beddyxgreyxwhippet, he took chase, was right on its tail when the rabbit darted to avoid an ash tree and the dog slammed straight into it at full speed! I legged it over to him, my god did he cry and scream. was pretty clear that he had done serious damage, so carried him the mile and half back home, and got straight on the phone to the emergency vet. After xrays etc. he had dislocated his shoulder, and bust the socket and fractured the nib off the point of shoulder and fractured the whole of the shoulder blade! He is going in for the operation tomorrow. They are having to wire and pin the dislocation, find and remove bone fragments and pin and plate the shoulder all the way up. Godness knows what ligament and nerve damage he has done. Luckily I have the head vet doing the op, who understands lurchers and he is confident that it will have 85% chance of full mobility in the shoulder. Thank god for insurance!! Lola 0
Lol - good to keep a sense of humour. You're right, I'd rather take the risk than keep Casper on a lead. Life is for living! Plus my life would be a misery in the house if he didn't get to run.... the lurcher wall of death!!
jembo 0
The good thing about Blue, is that he is so laid back, he would sleep all day on the sofa if he could. Out ferreting he has been known to go and find a nice sunny spot for a power nap! Knowing him he will adapt very quickly and be up and about before i know it. Will do 6 months lead walking and fitness for the last 2 months just so i know the dislocation has held. Have started glucosimine, msm, primrose oil, probiotics, and arnica!! He might rattle soon! A good mate of mine had the litter brother to one of my dogs,it chased a bunny into an orchard ,hit a tree and broke its neck.So could be worse. You might be pleasantly surprised how good a recovery your best pal makes . All the best anyway Inan.
