baby rabbits

Recommended Posts

Last time i was out one bolted and the lurcher grabbed it coming out the hole the time before that 3 bolted out the one hole we grabbed them and necked them they feed the ferrets and when your doing pest control you cant leave them .

Some folk pop them back down the burrow but if they havent killed the doe rabbit the burrow will be smelling of ferret so the doe wont return .

Season's at an end now & it's just going to get harder to work the ferts properly............at best you're going to get too many bolters, & at worst you're going to spend a long time with a spade in your hand while fuzzie's fast asleep & full 8 feet down! Having said that, this time of year is ideal for training young 1st season ferts, as they can get a chance to get their kills without having the savvy to head deep with them, or run the risk of a kick from a full-grown bun. I wouldn't carry on for much longer though.................

Just kill them quickly mate and feed them to the ferrets. We had some 2 years back jump out of holes and because we had the shotties we just shot them becasue we had killed the parents so thought if we tried to grab them and they went back down the hole it wouldent be fair on them.

I wouldn't want my ferrets trained to kill, That only encourages digging. I want mine to get them bolting with no messing around.

i just wondered do many of you get baby rabbits out of the hole and what you do with them

as we went out yesterday got 10 full size but had 3 babys hop out of different holes

oli

i go out with my ferrets every week i stop end of feb as they start to =breed some things i no is when the young one are there your ferrets stay under longer as they catch them and kill them. so your wasting your time.

the ohter is your killing next years rabbits if you want lots next year leave them to breed.

if you kill one doe with young yours killing 50 that you can have in november do you get what i mean

I could'nt name one landowner that would let anyone invited onto his land to perform pest control, be it sport or professional, to allow thousands of rabbits to destroy his crops at peak growing time, just so that person could obtain bigger bags to brag about to his mates or post on here.
