Molie1337 35
Me and a mate were given some ferrets today, apparently the jill is pregnant, just wondered what to do with her, do the kitts or her need 24hr care or will she sort them out herself?! ive swarn for ages i wouldnt have ferrets again but it looks like its happening! at least we'll be able to get a few bunnys for the pot, just need to get a locator, does anyone know the best place to get a good deal on one!? cheers in advance John Quote Link to post
stubby 175
look on the pinned section top of ferret page, topic by Ianb, good offer on locators as for the jill, as long as you supply her with a hutch/court, food and water daily, she will not need much else, if you havent got fresh rabbits, she'll do fine on some of those pidgeons Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
If you have a rough idea when the jills due give her a cage on her own & plenty of food , bedding etc & she will be quite happy with that, just check daily & if everything goes ok you will hear the squeeks when she has had them , dont mess with the nest unless you absolutly have to once she has had them, if your worried at all at accordingly Good luck Quote Link to post
Molie1337 35
It all sounds a bit too easy! they were given to us with a hutch and water bottle etc, and i shot a pigeon and stuck it in there for their food last night, is it worth suplementing the meat/fur/feather etc diet with dry food aswell? the kids who had them said they were "terrible biters" but we held them for a while last night and, other than being very excited to be out of there little hutch (building a bigger one this weekend!!) they were quiet as mice!! cheers John Quote Link to post

stealthy1 3,964
You did well to get given ferrets and hutch for nothing, good luck with the kits. Quote Link to post
Molie1337 35
tell me about it! it makes the 200 quid for the locator and 2 collars a little easier....a little... cheers for all your replies! John Quote Link to post
The one 8,552
If your feeding meat you wont ned to suplement it with dry grub ,As said before your jill might need a hutch to herself as the hob might kill the kitts but by the time she is due you should know her nature and if she's likely to let you se the kitts before they leave the nest Quote Link to post
max abell 196
Hi mate good luck with your 1st litter of kitts but please remember handle the kitts as soon as you feel the jill will let you without stressing her out and handle them as much as possible a few times a day if you have the time this way the kitts will get used to you and who ever else handles them i am a helper for the ferret welfare society and the reason a lot of ferrets nip or bite is because of bad ferret management from owners who become scared of them and wont pick them up anymore because they dont spend any time with them in the 1st place there is no such thing as a vicious ferret only a bad owner in the 1st place i am really glad you started handling the so called biters and hope you have some nice kitts to work for you GOOD LUCK Quote Link to post
