Cracking day

Recommended Posts

Me and David travelled once again to my permission in the Borders for a spot of foxing. On the way I called into a large hill farm and managed to secure another 3000 acres of fox shooting :clapper:

On arrival at my ground I glassed a fox straight away , but it was a long way off mousing in a clearfell . I told David to have a crack as there was nothing to lose , the fox presented itself standing on top of a log , David fired and missed but the fox only trotted another 40 yards or so so I stopped it with a holler and told David to give it a foot , he launched a 58 gr v-max and I saw the fox jink and run off but it started to wobble and fell over dead after a spurt of around 30 yards. This fox was at least 400 yards away , a truly brilliant shot :clapper:

We couldnt pick the fox so had to drive round to the other ground and get it from that side , lucky really as I spied another fox in a gulley and David knocked this one over at approx 180 yrds . :clapper:

2 foxes in under an hour and in broad daylight , it doesnt get much better !

We then travelled to the new ground for a spot of lamping. It was drizzling and misty but we just had to show willing.

David pulled off a cracking shot staright away , head shooting this fox at 250 yds !!

We then spotted another 2 in another field , one was munching on sheep remains , the other just sat there watching.

David managed to drop the pair :notworthy:

We had to cut the night short as the mist got too thick , or I think we would have been in double figures as the ground looks brilliant for foxes.

Still 5 in the bag is a cracking day and we will be back up again shortly , Make sure you bring plenty ammo David as I think your barrels may get a bit hot !!!!

You'll have to tell Mr L all about the Tikka T3...he's after a long range fox tool

What ammo do you use out at that range..or do you stick to the same stuff regardless??

Cheers

Cant fault the T3 for a factory rifle , very accurate.

Ammo used is 58 grn v-max , which are the dogs b*****ks , very fast , flat and accurate.
