thanks giles, that is what i have been doing but its still no working. ah well, keep on tryin. just thought that there might be a magical cure out their somewhere.

GO TO THE CHEMIST AND GET GERMOLENE NEW SKIN. IT BURNS LIKE SHIT WHEN YOU PUT IT ON, SO HOLD ONTO THE DOG TIGHT. THIS IS LIKE A CLEAR WATER PROOF PLASTER. BEST OF LUCK.

if you'vre tried everything, and still no joy, surely the sensible thing to do would be a trip to the vets and get it stitched, or glued

its not big enough for that. doesnt need stitches and its not a open wound, its scabbed up but keeps bleeding through the scab when he shakes his head. Ill try and get some photos when he gets back from ferreting to make it clearer. Ill try the vaseline, its one thing i havent tried yet! It's pretty impossible to bandage because he just scrartches it off!

problem with this type is that every time they shake their heads (which they do cos the cut tingles) then they set it off afain. ideally you need to strap the ear to the head.....this is what i do....make a compression pad out of cotton wool wrapped in cotton and wrap it around the ear. Tape pad to ear with adhesive tape....then get an old sock and cot the end of so its a tube, and put dogs head and ear through sock so its like a balaclava :D and this keeps the ear next to the head so it doesnt fly about when they shake their head. :clapper: you need to check the wound daily though as lack of air isnt good for it...i usually leave it like this for three days then completely remove it.

thanks stubby but its only a wee nick where she went under a barbed fence. its clean and tidy and also near to christmas so i could do without giving my lolley to the vets up here as they all seem to stand at the door waiting for us with a mask, a horse and a flintlock. at least robin hood gave to the poor. i only use them if nessesary. i will try some of these methods posted though.
