mattydski 560
I shoot off sticks, but only on ranges under yards ish. After that its abit wobbley TBH. Better off the bonet of the landy with the bipod. It not about being easier, its about guaranteeing a humane kill..Which is after all what we all want.. Quote Link to post

drut 9
Try as I might, I can't shoot accurately using sticks. Other people can I am trying to come to terms with sticks: i've got X3M1 tripod & made a "Bi-Fur Pod" as per Varmintals site but find I am more accurate with a Harris 13-27 bipod used fully extended from kneeling position for quick shots. Guest vim
Tim get an old inner tube and cut the fecker into strips/rings. You`ll need two rings wrapped around the top of the sticks to keep them from being sloppy at the top. You`ll be able to turn the gun left or right marginally for target movement unlike fixed commercially made one`s. Plus they cost feck all so if you need to dump them or they get damaged it`s of no great loss If you really want to go for it then put another rubber ring wrap 1/4 way up one staff this will stop the two from clunking together and then drill and fix a self tapper screw through a washer in bottoms to stop them from splitting.. Can also be used for Deer control Edited November 22, 2008 by JohnGalway Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Never one to use sticks an awful lot, I do prefer the bi-pod, but I have used a single stick on a few occasions and more rarely a double. Not particularly comfortable using them, but a whole lot better than free standing. SS Quote Link to post
Deker 3,491
Coming to this one a bit late and not read all the responses but it's not a matter of sticks or no sticks ...it's a matter of "Do I need Sticks for this Land" I have a selection of different height Bipods and will always utilise anything else sensible for support when I am out. I don't have any, nor do I really have a requirement for, any sticks. YES, there are times when I could definately have used then and could not take a shot because I didn't, but trade this off with carting them around all over the place for the occassional shot and ...."I can always shoot it tomorrow" comes to mind. Look at your land and ask yourself the question!!.....and of course, as has already been said you don't have to be a rocket scientist to make some to give it a try Quote Link to post
Guest vim
I have walked for day`s Deker carrying those poxy sticks without even putting the gun on the fecking things.. But there one of the first things i put in the motor.. No disrespect to you but obviously you dont do much Deer control because this is where the sticks become a very import piece of equipment Then there`s the time when your out lamping with the keeper and you spot that troublesome fox but not having the sticks there that you need at that one time you calmly explain to the keeper "you can allways shoot it tommorow" Be prepared to engage the target at every opportunity and pretend to be the pro that your not Edited November 22, 2008 by JohnGalway Quote Link to post
