Kay 3,709
Use frontline or a tick picker, dont pull then off , dont burn them of , dont cover them in anything like petrolium jelly , frontline or a tick picker Quote Link to post
stubby 175
get a tick puller, insert the prongs either side of the tick, rotate the ticker puller a few times, tick will let go of fert and come away whole and alive, tap onto work surface and squash the buggars Quote Link to post
Malt 379
I use these: Then after you've removed them all, I'd treat them with front line spray. It's also a good idea to clear out all the bedding from your ferrets living area, then give the area a good blast of some insecticide, and leave the ferrets out of it for a few hours. willow 53
This may sound like an old wives tale but it actually does work. Chop up some cloves of garlic, mix with olive oil and massage into the fur. The ticks drop off. Dont ask me how it works as I have no idea but it really does Quote Link to post
The one 8,600
Ive never had a tick on a ferretmaybe just lucky but i was told your more likely to pick them up if sheeps been grazing the ground Quote Link to post
Neal 1,930
I always wrap them in a piece of kitchen paper before squashing them once they've been removed; or at least I have done ever since getting shot in the eye by some blood once. YEUCH! Quote Link to post

stealthy1 3,964
Tick puller is my first choice, pure alcohol from chemist is my second choice. Quote Link to post

Cornio 0
I'm pretty sure that when using a tick-puller, you have to turn it anti-clockwise because the ticks bury in clockwise. Quote Link to post
Guest ferret feller
faffing about?? id say pulling 30+ ticks off with a puller would be faffing about..... far better to use frontline or anyother chemicle. Quote Link to post

I've got 15 ferrets in one court, and never in my life have I had 30 plus ticks on them all, I'd be seriously worried about their housing and my care if they did, after ferreting, using maybe 4 of the 15, they are de-ticked before going back in the court Quote Link to post
