Guest Magwitch
I don't like to miss a day's ferreting on the weekend so even though its been bitter cold here I arranged with the farmer for a spot of Pugging today. Got all me cold weather gear on and made our way to the orchard we intended to ferret and the heavens opened up with the type of rain that gets you wet , being dedicated Pugger's we carried on regardless . Our orchards have been hit real bad with Mixy and because it was raining we chose some easy buries what normally holds 5's and 6's. First bury we had one bolter only so we moved on to a larger bury set not far from the hedgerow, looked well used and promising this one so in with the three Pug's, the two Jill's showed very little interest but the Silver Hob soldiered on underground. After about three marks with the locator we got a good static position and quickly dug down to about a foot and half finding him giving a big Bullx buck rabbit a hard time, two in the bag now and it was still lashing it down. A quick coffee and sandwich break with Ted taking cover from the rain under the farmer's trailer, then to the last bury before we threw the towel in. Had a quick bolt from here followed by another two foot dig to another big buck rabbit. Well four in the bag so not a very productive morning but thats ferreting for you. But it was Sidney the silver hobs first day out since his mystery illness and the fella did well sticking with a rather fearsome looking buck rabbit until being dug to, well done Sid Quote Link to post

Tyla 3,179
i had a similar day. Couldnt get on the land til ten due to real life interfering then got collared by the land owner and asked to do a particularly awkward bury on two sides of a high stock fence and covered in scrub. Started getting wet as i netted up but got it done and entered Bracket and Polar. Within 30 seconds three rabbits bolted, sounds good but the first one got the net tangled on the fence and escaped and the other two were right behind it and went literally between my legs as i tried to reset the net They were closely followed by the two ferrets who went under the fence and headed towards a monster set under a holly bush as i leapt the fence to get them before they reached their destination i ripped the arse right out of my trousers i kept trying for a bit but the rain got the better of me and i ended up soaked with a bare arse and no bunnies. Rabbits 3 - Me 0. Still, cant win all the time i suppose Quote Link to post
