Guest warren
NICE THREAD POINTER , THE DRIVE THE GWP LURCHER HAS TO FIND GAME IS OUTSTANDING , LONG AFTER MOST COLLIE CROSSES HAVE FALLEN IN BEHIND THE OWNER GIVING THE TELL TALE SIGNS OF A DOG HAVING HAD " ENOUGH " THE GWP HYBRIDS ARE STILL PUSHING ON ........... , ONLY TWICE HAVE I SEEN ANOTHER LURCHER TYPE WITH A SIMILAR STYLE , BOTH WERE GUNDOG CROSSES ONE WAS SOME LAB CROSSES WHICH WERE MORE DELIBERATE HUNTERS WITH REAL BONDS TO THEIR OWNERS AND THE OTHER SPRINGER CROSSES WHICH WERE HARD TO HANDLE BUSH BUSTING MACHINES A NICE LOOKING GWP LURCHER YOU HAVE THERE .......... I NOTICED HE HAS THROWN TO A COLOURATION FOUND IN SOME GWP,,,, HAS HE SOME OF THE ROMMEL DOGS BLOOD IN HIM ? ALL THE BEST DUCKWING Good post Pointer, looks you had some cracking sport and its good to see the dogs are going well. Good post DUCKWING. I cant speak for all Collie crosses but only a very few times while she was fit did I ever see Nell done in. It was inexperience on Nells behalf, she most have thaught herself as a Pointer cross!! When she was young, very young she had the drive of a Pointer cross but she soon learnt "the hard way" to steady up and I have got to say I have had some long days with Nell and when fit I have never known her stop hunting, searching and catching, no matter what the weather or type of terraine. On a differnt note Nell has just given birth to eleven pups, lost one last night. There seems to be every differnt type "colour" merle ther is. The sire is of course Dougie, Minnies Brother so I would imagine these pups can have some of that Pointer drive!! Time will tell and its fingers crossed. Regards Warren Quote Link to post

THE CHANCES OF YOUR LITTER NOT MAKING THE GRADE AS TOP CLASS DAYTIME & NIGHTIME RABBIT DOGS WILL BE VERY , VERY SMALL AS MUCH AS I LOVE A WALK OUT AFTER DARK WITH LAMP IN HAND I AM THE FIRST TO ADMIT ......... IT TAKES A VERY DIFFERENT ANIMAL TO BECOME A REGULAR TAKER OF DAYTIME CONIES IN ANY NUMBER , SKILLS WHICH VERY FEW DOGS THESE DAYS POSSESS VERY , VERY FEW LADS HAVE TESTED THEIR RUNNING DOGS OR THEMSELVES AS HARD AS YOU AND THE LADS POINTER IS NOW WALKING OUT WITH HAVE DONE , STILL HAVING AS MUCH DRIVE AS YOU LADS HAVE FOR THE RABBITING GAME AFTER DECADES IS TRUELY A FEAT IN ITSELF MY HATS OFF TO YOU SIR ! ALL THE BEST DUCKWING Thankyou for the kind words DUCKWING, I hope your right about the pups, I have high hopes for them, but dont we all when we breed a litter? I would never ever knock the lamping man and his dog, it can be taxing times for both when running on well stocked "bunnies" land. I admire a good lamping dog and it is the best way to take big numbers with your juckle and you and the dog must be up for the job. A lot of Lurcher men are happy seeing only how good their dogs are and my hat is off to those who dare truly test their wards and find the truth!! Before anyone jumps on me I dont mean one has to nearly kill the dog to test it, those who know will fully understand where I am coming from, and those who dont know will never know by sitting here reading this!!! I am content that I know how good and how bad my bitch Nell is, its given me good cause to keep her line going. Regards Warren Quote Link to post
john hubery 9
Some of you will know that I walk out on the dales with warren most weeks and some time two or three times a week, to see the drive Nell has on day time rabbits has to be witnessed, and I know you sould never count your chickens ect. ect. but I would find it hard to belive that the pups from this union between Nell and Dougie, in the hands of a true rabbit hunting man and given the chance to experience the rabbiting game to the full will make any thing short of exellent, and warren if there bonny colour to boot then its a bonus, but Im sure in time to come it will be the hunting skills of these offspring that will be talked about in the future and not there colour, these comments are in no way ment to take any thing away from the dogs in this thread, though I have not exeperienced pointers lurchers working in the flesh, I have seen many hours of film of them and never sicken of watching them, they just keep on going Edited October 9, 2008 by john hubery Quote Link to post

pointer 543
out again with minnie and this time i had tess with me. the wind and rain made sure we were soon soaking wet.thankfully it dosent seem to affect the dogs much and they caught a few rabbits.after taking the photo the dogs caught another four in the set-aside near to where the car was parked up.i was too wet to bother taking another pic Quote Link to post
