young hob

i kept 1 hob and 1 jill back this year they both from different litters.they are both housed together with 2 older jills just wondered what age the hob will be ready to line the jills.im also thinking about getting him snipped any particular age that best for that to be done thanks for any advice

dont worry mate it wont be this year maybe june july next yearor a little earlier but wont be this season ok thanks dont know what age is best for the snip do you mean vasectomy that will be when the ferret is around 12 months old cheers :victory:

it depends mate your first notice when hes ready when he has testies and starts pissing up him self getting him cut is up to you you may wont to breed him first

why with so many ferrets about, would you give advice for someone to breed from a hob, before getting him the snip, I could understand if it was a dog,

It will be next year before his testies drop and he sexually mature to line a jill ,and the vets like the testies to be down before they will operate and then your going to have to wait the requiredtill 8/12 weeks before you can use him your vet will advise ,mate

I payed £60 last year ,and the risk's are the vet might not do it right and your jills end up preggers,you dont wait the required time your jills end up preggers .My mate got ahod done and it was the blood supply to the teste's the vet removed :icon_eek: .And ive had and seen a few hobs end up with testicular cancer later in life all who where snipped
