jamie g 17
cz rifles are great value for money there well built, very accurate, and relieble. worth the money and is is the most sold bolt action in the country. i have the cz style with nickel finish and it shoots ragged groups at 60 yards the size of a finger nail. all i have done is fitted a brooks trigger kit to it to make the trgger sweet. but you could just cut two coils of the trigger spring and adjust the nut if you didnt want to spend anything on it. but for £12.50 for the kit its not dear so its up to you. as for the scope there is loads on the market i have the mtc viper with xmas tree crosshair i find with a 60 yard zero there are lots of aim points on the scope to shoot out to 100 yards if you wanted to. its a 4x16x50 with 30mm tube. if i was bying again i would have the 3x12x44 mamba its the same glass but hasnt got the target turrets like the mamba so is more compact. if you want a cheaper scope get a simmons 3.5x10x50 whitetail there fine for rimfires and have good glass. i like the mtc as there very clear and you get mounts, sunshade, battery for ir, and like i have said the crosshair works out good at different distance Quote Link to post
trappa 518
CZ rifles are great. Good quality guns at great prices. i suppose that the rule of thumb is get the best scopes you can afford. Ive got 9X magnification on mine, i dont think i would want any more powerful as it might entice me into taking shots that are a little too far my guns capabilities. Quote Link to post
woodga 170
the cz range are very reliable rim fires i use the synthetic stock full size barrel and a tasco 6x24x44 mill dot scope very accurate out to plus yards have killed thousands of rabbits with the one i use shooting winchester subs and never had a problem Quote Link to post
doyler 0
cz lr can fault it cheap to run great rifle for the bunnies i have a bushnell banner 3-9-50 Quote Link to post
IanB 0
I've got an MTC viper on mine at the minute, but just had a cheap job on before that a tasco 6x42 it was nice and compact, no bells or whistles, did the job no problem, think I might stick it back on Quote Link to post
Effortless 0
Best scope? Stick with a fixed magnification. Reason???? 1. Better light transmission... zoom scopes have many more individual lenses (elements in optic-speak), and since you lose a tiny percentage of light at every glass/air and glass/glass interface, the more elements you have, the worse the light transmission. 2. It is easier to guess range if you always use one magnification. For example, is the rabbit at 6x zoom the same distance as the one at 9x zoom? 3. Cheaper... fewer elements, no zoom ring, etc etc make for a scope that's cheaper to produce. I use a Hawke 6x42, with the mil-dot reticle, and I am very happy with it. It is the "magic" number, ie 42 divided by 6 = 7mm exit pupil, which applies to 8x56, 6x42 and 4x32. Coincidence? No. It is the average diameter of the human pupil at full dark adaptation, so any scope or binocular with a 7mm exit pupil will be at its most efficient in terms of light tranmission. Oh, and my scope is mounted on a CZ Varmint in .22LR with a 16" barrel, Parker Hale moderator and Harris bipod. Very happy with the whole package. Hope this helps, Effortless. Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
Mil-dot or some other reticle very important, beyond that crack on! The MTC range has a great reticle but overall I'm not a fan. Have a look at Falcon Optics (www.falconoptics.com) as they have a reticle that ought to do a similar job. I'd get their 10x42 for a rimfire (and indeed, if I could justify the expense with the expected new rifle outlay, I would buy one myself). Quote Link to post
Guest Magwitch
I use a AGS swat 4-16x56, they have a 30mm tube and suck the light in really well and can be used with NV as well as the lamp, brought mine second hand for £100 sidewheel and end caps are included and mine came with reach forward mounts. Optic's are very clear its very well made and i wouldn't part with it for love nor money. Quote Link to post
Westy 0
Hello All First post - but been reading for a while. I am awaiting my ticket - although already have .22lr and .17hmr awaiting (being held by good friends on spare slots they have) I was thinking of possibly mounting a Connect 01 scope on the .22lr, has anyone any experience of using these scopes on .22lr ? I was hoping to do this, as I have made a mount to use my night vision with the Connect scope because it is a 10 x scope with a massive field of view and very good light capture. Cheers Westy Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
It's been said a million times about CZ, you will not do better until you spend a LOT more!! Scope wise, depends if you are target or hunting or both, but in principle you can get away with almost anything on a rimmy, no cartridge kick and no spring jolt...other than a 12ft lb PCP it's just about the most gentle thing you can bolt a scope to!
