Malt 379
My brother & his girlfriend called around last night with their boxer. He's a lovely dog, typical boxer, 3 years old and still a pup. The girlfriend comes in, slagging my neighbours dog off for having the cheek to bark at her dog, and then giving the 'Dog owners lecture' to us. It's her first dog ever, she never had a dog at home in her life, so knew feck all about dogs until she had this one. So, she buys a book, puts the dog into 'dog school', and bought into everything the local dog food merchant told her, because he's not a salesman, he's a 'dog nutritionist.' (Sells dry food) So anyway, armed with her new knowledge, she thinks she now knows more about dogs than people who have spent all their lives around them. She's one of these 'right on' people, got her opinion, and that's all that matters, she's right and that's it. She'll even rudely refuse to talk to you if you have a different opinion about anything. Getting to the point, she started playing tug of war with my 6 month old JRT, and my pup started growling at the toy, as she always does when she's ragging a toy. Her dog, not used to this, clubbed my pup with his paw, and growled at her, thinking the pup was being aggressive. So fair enough, anybody in their right mind would have told the dog off and not done it again, but instead of this, she makes a fuss of him, 'Ah he's protecting his mrs!' and all this shite, leaving my brother looking somewhat embarrassed in the corner. He pipes up, 'What do you mean his Mrs!' His face said it all! She then turned to me and said, 'He thinks the pup's having a go at me' I said, 'well he will, he's not used to it, she always growls when you play with her, that's just her playing.' So instead of not doing it again, she put he finger into her dogs collar, and started teasing my pup with her toy again, trying to get her dog to react again, which he did. That was it for me, I blew up! I stood up and shouted, 'FOR F*CK SAKE! ARE YOU THICK OR WHAT? THAT DOG WOULD ONLY HAVE TO BITE HER ONCE AND THAT WOULD BE IT, DEAD!' IF THAT F*CKING DOG DOG GOES FOR MINE AGAIN, I'LL F*CKING GO FOR YOU!' She wailed, 'I had hold of his collar!' so I shouted back, 'YEAH, WITH ONE FINGER, IF HE REALLY WANTED TO GO FOR HER, YOU WOULDN'T HAVE STOPPED HIM!' She then storms off out the flat, saying to my poor brother, 'I wont be spoken to like that by you, and I wont be shouted at by your brother.' I've put up with her ways ever since she's been with my brother, but it came to a head last night & I'm not sure when I'll hear from my brother again! Sorry for the rant & the many words, but I haven't been able to sleep all night, seething with anger at the stupid bitch, (the girlfriend not my pup! ) and I had to blow off somewhere! Over reaction on my part maybe?

Kay 3,709
Sounds a bit like my mothers scatty cow of a neighbour who insisted her boxer was only playing with there other dog a yorkie , after repeated warnings by my mother that the dogs were not playing , as she was at work all day she had no idea what was going on , so when she came home from work & found the yorkie dead there was all hell let loose , some people just never take on board anything & ultimatly someone or something payes the price sadly
FJager 0
Maltenby, you did as any other dogman or dogwoman (does that sound ok ladies) would, good on ya, if she doesn't come back, so be it, no over reaction from you, you know dogs, stick to your guns.

comanche 3,297
The lady obviously comes from the modern school of dog training .The pupils of which will spot you and your obedient dog strolling along or doing a few retrieves and allow their dog to belt 100yards towards you, bowl your dog over and take great offence when you steady your own pup in a decent sit and stay and ask them to call their dog back. Usual response is ,"Oh come on let them have a play together". This translates as " My dog won't come back when I call it so I'm going to let it spoil your dogs steadyness too!"". My old collie lurcher was permanently crippled by a pack of just such dogs about five years ago and is now only up to light ferreting duties. He still manages to climb on the furniture and into my bed though. Kay 3,709
The worrying thing is a boxers a big powerfull dog & i personally would struggle with such a dog on the end of a lead so wouldnt ever own such a dog , i have no where near enough experience training wise to take on even a pup of that breeding, i struggle with this greyhound when she kicks off , but i am keen to ensure she isnt ever a nuicence to anyone else or anyones dogs while out, sadly i wish the owners off lap dogs payed me that in return , so its muzzles every walk now & a noose round her neck so i can control her easier

Since his attack the old s*d can be very quick to warn-off any dog that so much as gives him a funny look.Still you get people saying "Don't worry he's friendly",when their tiny,bum-sniffing, and dangerously bite-sized pooch refuses to leave my dog alone even after the growl that says "That , my littleDougal dishrag was fair warning". It does seem that a lot of old time dog -lore ,the unspoken social responsibility ,has been lost and only in the last 20 or so years. People let their untrained dogs off at will on other people's land and in public places as if it was their right to do so without reguard .People walk in-season bitches and thus lure male dogs into straying and getting run-over.Worse still they often show the exact opposite of remorse when incidents occur.. lurchergrrl 1,441
I had a boxer for a while - well, he was my ex hubby's - and he was a psycho. Lovely temperment but daft as a bag of hammers. He once pulled me and my girls in their double pram out into the road and nearly killed us all. Silly fart. Needless to say, when I split from my ex the boxer went to a boxer savy home. Sounds to me like that girl wants a clip round the ear If anyone did that to my dog I would've been well pissed off Malt, so no you didn't over react. What she did was well out of order and really quite stupid. Know it all 'doggy' folks don't half burn my ass I've been round dogs pretty much all my life and I don't know it all, but I do know a lot and I wouldn't have been quite so polite as you were Here's hoping your bro sees the light and gets shot of her
Malt 379
Spoke to my bro on the phone, didn't mention anything about last night, so he's OK with me! That's all I was bothered about really, couldn't give a stuff if his Mrs never speaks to me again, in fact it'll get me out of pretending to like her again! Cheers for the replies guys, I'm starting to feel a bit now!

I get 1 of 2 types here, they see me with a large dog muzzled so they either walk off swiftly hoping there dog follows , or if i am lucky the dog actually does do as its told & they just go another route . Or they allow the small dog to race round within 10 feet of the greyhound on a flimsey extender lead , just gawping at me wondering why i have a noose round her neck & why i have cocked my leg over her , it beggers belief sometimes , walks with her just recently have become an assult course , i prey for bad weather as they just boot the scrotty little things on the yard so they dont get wet
The one 8,592
It seriously pisses me off when out with the lab and spanniel and you got one of these idiots with a furball on a extended lead and if it started my wouldn't retailate but when we got the lurcher she doesn't take kindly to yappy dogs coming up fast to her and she warns them off problem sorted
